Update (11/8/21):
Congratulations to all of the Aspen teams for doing such a great job in the tournament on Saturday, Nov 6th!
The EsCargo and Robot Rookie teams will advance to the Colorado State tournament in Littleton (southwestern Denver greater metropolitan area) on December 11th.
We are proud of the hard work by all of the middle schoolers during this on-ramping year for robotics in the middle school. The competition season is over for most of the students, but there will be more STEM opportunities the middle school soon.
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers for all of your hard work since October, and the school staff, high school mentors and community members who stepped up to make the FIRST AMS robotics tournament a success.
We thank AEF for its support of this program and the teams.
It wouldn't have been possible without you all.
Our mission is to help the middle school students work on a Robotics and an Innovation project for the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Cargo Connect competition in November. Through the project, students will learn about designing and building Lego robots to complete missions, coding with the EV3 classroom app, identifying a problem related to transportation, connecting with community members to come up with a Innovations Project solution and giving a 5 minute presentation.
The Challenge
The challenge, which is described in the links below, consists of a Robot design and Robot game and an Innovation project.
The teams will be evaluated on their robot design, coding solutions, and strategy for the missions on the field. They will keep an engineering notebook that will be shown to the judges. During the robot game, each team will gain points during three 2.5 minute matches to complete as many autonomous robot missions as possible.
Each team will prepare a 5 minute presentation to explain their Innovation project. For this project, teams will identify and research a problem related to the transportation of cargo, design a solution to the problem and create a model or prototype of the solution. The teams are encouraged to use outside resources and will be judged on their presentation.
Finally, each team will be judged on how well they demonstrate the core values that will make them successful in the future: teamwork, ability to innovate and make an impact, inclusivity and fun!
