🧑🔬About Me
Hello! I am Amrit Sudershan, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Sri Pratap College, under Cluster University Srinagar, where I specialize in the exciting and ever-evolving field of Human Genetics.
My academic and research interests are deeply rooted in population genetics "a field that enables us to understand the distribution and changes of genetic variation across populations and time". I am particularly fascinated by how both common and rare genetic variants influence the susceptibility, onset, and progression of complex diseases.
Beyond my core focus, my curiosity extends into the intricate world of biological processes in nature, especially those related to neuro-disorders. I have a keen interest in understanding neural excitability and the crosstalk between neuronal signaling molecules. Delving into the complex network interactions within the nervous system, I aim to unravel how disruptions in these systems can lead to neurological conditions.
My research journey is driven by a passion for connecting these complex dots from genetic markers to cellular signals to develop a holistic understanding of genetic and neurological mechanisms. This multidisciplinary approach helps me contribute meaningfully to the broader scientific discourse.
In addition to teaching and conducting research, I’ve also ventured into scientific tool development, having created a user-friendly, web-based platform known as GeneRiskCalc. This tool integrates multiple analytical steps into a single pipeline for genetic association analysis, supporting researchers in the field of genetic epidemiology with enhanced efficiency and reproducibility.
I have also authored and co-authored numerous research articles (⏯️) in internationally reputed, peer-reviewed scientific journals. These contributions span topics from genetic association studies to neurogenetics, reflecting my commitment to advancing our understanding of human health through data-driven research.
Whether it's guiding students, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, or building bioinformatics tools, my work is anchored in the desire to make genetics more accessible, meaningful, and impactful in the context of human disease and diversity.
