Xbox history

Xbox is a video gaming brand created in and owned by Microsoft. It represents a series of video game consoles developed by Microsoft, with three consoles released in the sixth, seventh, and eighth generations, respectively. The brand also represents applications (games), streaming services, an online service by the name of Xbox Live, and the development arm by the name of Xbox Game Studios. The brand was first introduced in the United States in November 2001, with the launch of the original Xbox console.

The idea of Microsoft developing its own gaming console began gaining traction way back in 1998, with Ted Hase, Seamus Blackley, Kevin Bachus, Otto Berkes, and forming the software giant’s first console team after successfully pitching their idea to Bill Gates. Originally dubbed the DirectX Box, the console was intended to be the first game system built like a PC, bringing all of the flexibility and power of a gaming rig to the console market.

The original device was the first video game console offered by an American company after the Atari Jaguar stopped sales in 1996. It reached over 24 million units sold as of May 2006.Microsoft's second console, the Xbox 360, was released in 2005 and has sold 84 million units as of June 2014. The Xbox One has been released in 21 markets in total, with a Chinese release in September 2014. The head of Xbox is Phil Spencer, who succeeded former head Marc Whitten in late March 2014.

Xbox is one of the biggest competitors with PlayStation since the release of the Xbox 360.

Release date: A 'holiday' in 2020

The Xbox Series X is scheduled to come out sometime in “holiday 2020,” but Microsoft hasn't revealed a specific date just yet. A look back at Microsoft's previous releases could give us a clue. Microsoft released the Xbox 360 on Nov. 22, 2005, and launched the Xbox One on Nov. 22, 2013, so people believe it will be released in November 2020.

The Xbox Two Release Date will be in November 15, 2020 (Updated Release Date) or sooner. The Xbox One X represents the first iterative console release within a single generation, but it's not a next generation console. .
