Mr. Amit Talukder is a dedicated professional with a diverse academic journey and a fervor for innovation where technology intersects with materials.
My educational trajectory encompasses a BS in Textile Engineering from the prestigious University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, and an MS in Business Administration from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Recently, I proudly attained an MS in fashion design and merchandising from Mississippi State University.
With over four years of hands-on experience in the industrial weaving landscape, I've been actively immersed in a dynamic commercial fishing project since 2021 during my master's, underscoring my commitment to practical application.
At MSU, I served as a graduate research assistant and grad lead, contributing significantly to shaping the future of protective gear. Collaborating closely with my supervisor, I was pivotal in a groundbreaking project centered around protective fishing shirts for commercial fishermen. This endeavor extended to encompass comfort assessments, heart rate monitoring, pulmonary evaluations, and ergonomic analyses using RULA and REBA methods. My contributions garnered media recognition, with features in MSU's newsroom, local television broadcasts, and newspapers. I secured a grant from the AATCC Foundation for my thesis on wearable flexible solar cells, highlighting my unwavering dedication to impactful research.
Furthermore, I engaged in cross-disciplinary collaborations spanning kinesiology, industrial engineering, and athlete engineering in an innovative initiative integrating wearable technology-based smart socks with stretch sensors. The project introduces a virtual immersive test to evaluate postural control system safety.
My research interests traverse various fields, encompassing human factors, ergonomics, biomechanics, wearables, smart textiles, e-textiles, energy harvesting, and protective clothing. I adeptly utilize both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to glean meaningful insights. My research focus extends from product design to product materials, particularly nanomaterials.
I'm thrilled to share that my journey continues with pursuing a Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science. I am honored to have been bestowed a doctoral fellowship from the esteemed graduate school of UGA. Additionally, I'm actively contributing as a graduate teaching assistant starting in the fall of 2023.
