Amit Kumar Prasad is currently working as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. My current research topic utilizes the Angstrom scale and conventional techniques to investigate the relationship between surface roughness and surface properties. Simultaneously, I am delving into the mechanical characteristics of nanoparticles by studying their in-situ deformation using TEM. The investigation aims to understand how factors such as size and shape impact the deformation behavior of nanoparticles. His Ph.D. thesis work was on " Mechanical, Wear and Corrosion properties of a novel Mg-10Dy-0.7La alloy ". During his Ph.D., he has been awarded a fellowship by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
He is well trained in various advanced experimental techniques e.g., casting, FESEM, EDS, UTM, Creep, XRD, EBSD, TEM, PDP, EIS, XPS, room and high-temperature corrosion. During his PhD tenure, besides gaining in-depth knowledge, he learned how to do individual research and publish papers in reputed journals.
He worked as an Assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at United college of engineering & research (UCER) Praygraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, prior to starting his Ph.D. degree for almost 9 years.
Apart from his Ph.D. research, he was involved in many consultancies projects of various industries and in teaching assistantship of UG students. He published 12 reputed international peer-reviewed journals. Also, some articles are under review and some papers are ready for submission in highly reputed journals.
In 2010, he qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in Mechanical Engineering with a 462-gate score. He completed his B.Tech. degree in July 2006 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIMT, Meerut, affiliated to AKTU University, Uttar Pradesh, India.
