The research group Research in Environmental Engineering and Ecology (REEE) led by Dr. Amit Kumar focuses on innovative approaches to solid waste management, material flow analysis, and pollution assessment. The group has undertaken several sponsored research projects that explore the waste composition and characterization, modelling heavy metals fate and transport in urban setting, and assessing litter and cleanliness in cities. Through numerous journal publications, the group has contributed to the scientific understanding of pollutants' flows in natural environments, offering critical insights into sustainable waste management practices and environmental engineering solutions.
Dr. Amit Kumar is an academic and researcher in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a focus on solid waste management, material flow analysis, and environmental risk assessment. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and a M.S. from University of Central Florida, Orlando Fl, USA.
Dr. Kumar is currently holding the role of an Assistant Professor at MNIT Jaipur, where he has been since March 2019. His professional journey also includes roles as an Assistant Professor at NIT Jalandhar, Project Scientist at IIT Delhi in India and as a Civil Engineer in MWH Global at Cape Coral FL in USA.
He has been involved in numerous sponsored and consulting projects funded by various government bodies and institutions. These projects span topics such as municipal waste, street cleanliness characterization, legacy waste remediation, and resource recovery from municipal solid waste. He is having publications in high-impact journals and conference proceedings. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the IconSWM Excellent Paper Award and National Post-Doctoral Fellowship by SERB. Dr. Kumar is also actively involved in professional organizations, serving as a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP).
