Team Leader
Amit Prasad, PhD
I joined IIT Mandi back in 2014 and started Immune Engineering Lab. The major focus of the lab is to understand the checks and balances associated with inflammatory processes. I am a student of Immunology, trying to understand the different aspects of inflammatory control mechanism through host-pathogen interactions. I received my initial training in this filed at SGPGI ,Lucknow and Harvard Medical School. Its so exciting to learn diiferent aspects of this basic aspect of immunology implying helminths and bacteria.
Being team leader I feel privileged to get chance to work with these talented and hard working immune engineers!!

I joined the Immune Engineering lab in 2019 during my master’s dissertation on antimicrobial resistance. Fascinated by the immune system's responses in combating pathogens and their complex interactions, I transitioned to a PhD scholar role in 2020. My research revolves around Helicobacter pylori and Taenia solium infections. I earned my master’s in biotechnology from the Central University of Haryana in 2019 and my B.Sc. in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi. Besides my academic pursuits, I enjoy playing badminton, sketching, traveling, and watching movies.
Swati Sharma
I did my bachelor's from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Post which I pursued my Master's in Zoology from Punjab University, Chandigarh. I joined the Immune Engineering Lab at IIT Mandi in February 2022 as a PhD Scholar. My research interest lies in deciphering the intricate interplay between immune responses and metabolic pathways within the context of infectious diseases. I am a big yoga enthusiast. In my leisure time, I read novels and watch K-dramas.
Parul Mehra
I joined the Immune Engineering Lab in August 2022 as a PhD scholar. I always had a keen interest in studying the pathogenesis of diseases and their therapeutic strategies. Before joining IIT Mandi, I was a JRF at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi and I worked on Colorectal cancer. I completed my Masters in Microbiology from Central Research Institute in March 2021 and my Bachelor's in Microbiology from St. Bede's College, Shimla in 2018. I love to travel and my personal interests include cooking, journalling and listening sufi music.
Anubha Chaudhary
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from the University of Delhi North Campus, followed by a Master’s degree in Zoology with a focus on Immunoparasitology from the Department of Zoology, Chaudhary Charan Singh University Meerut. In August 2022, I joined the Immune Engineering Lab as a PhD scholar. Here, I am interested in targeting the functional lipid landscape of immune and microglial cells, aiming to uncover new biomarkers for infectious diseases. Apart from my academic pursuits, I enjoy playing table tennis.
Ananya Kapoor
Before joining my Ph.D. here in Dr. Amit Prasad’s Lab in IIT Mandi, I completed my Masters in Applied Microbiology from BHU Varanasi in 2022. I have also worked in Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Faridabad, Haryana in Clinical and Cellular Virology Laboratory as a dissertation intern. I have always been fascinated towards studying infections and immunology, hence my research interest focuses mainly towards this area. In Immune Engineering Lab, I am interested in studying effects of chronic infectious disease in immune homeostasis and to identify the molecular mechanisms. Outside of the lab, I enjoy singing, listening to music and travelling new places.
Manjulata
I joined Immune Engineering Lab in Feb 2023 as a Part - time PhD Scholar. I earned my M. Sc , M. Phil and M. Ed from MPBU Bhopal and HPU Shimla. Regarding my teaching assignment I worked in Central University of Tibetan Studies Sarnath Varanasi (U.P) from 2012 to 2017 as an Assistant Professor Botany. Then joined MlSM Post Graduate College Sunder Nagar (H.P) in 2018 as an Assistant Professor Botany till date. My area of research is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of Medicinal plants of Himalayan region in Neurodegenerative diseases.
Puja Rani Panda
I am Puja Rani Panda, a research associate at the Immune Engineering Lab at IIT Mandi since August 2023.
