Mr. Akshay Sharma
Akshay is a mechanical engineer from Sant longowal Institute of engineering and technology and pursued M.tech in Thermal Engineering from NIT Hamirpur in 2022. Continuing his studies, he joined the lab in July 2022 and would be working on membrane synthesis followed by the stack development of high-temperature PEM fuel cells co-supervised by Prof. Bhaskar Deka. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Prime Ministers Research Fellowship (PMRF). Akshay is fond of playing football and cricket.
Mr. Mohamad Saada
Mohamad Saada is a technical engineer (specializing in Equipment and Vehicles) from Tishreen University, Syria. He pursued his B.Tech. and M. Tech in Renewable Energy from Tishreen University (2022). Prior to his joining here as a full scholarship from government of India to pursue his Ph.D., he worked as a Technical Engineer in HVAC Company. The development of fuel cell hybrid vehicle based on multiple energy storage systems is his current focus of research co-supervised by Prof. Ravtia Lamba. He has a passion for reading ancient cultures, does well in basketball and he has several activities in support of children with cancer.
Mr. Deepak Singh
Deepak Singh completed his M. Tech in Production Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad in 2016. He has completed his B. Tech from MIET Meerut in 2012. He worked as an Assistant Professor at Parul University as well as HBTU Kanpur. He joined our group in January, 2024 and would be working on AEM electrolyzer. He is fond of cooking and swimming.

Mr. Ujjwal Singh
Ujjawal Singh is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and completed his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering in 2023 from Guru Ghasidas University. He is currently pursuing an M. Tech. in Renewable and Hydro Energy. His postgraduate project focuses on studying different flow field patterns on AEMWE cosupervised by Prof. Pranjali Sharma. Ujjawal's hobbies include playing cricket and volleyball as well as reading books.
Mr. Abhisekh Kumar Maurya
Abhisekh Kumar Maurya is from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and completed his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering in 2020 from Galgotias University. He is currently pursuing an M. Tech. in Renewable and Hydro Energy. His postgraduate project focuses on the study of proton exchange membranes for HT-PEMFC. Abhisekh enjoys playing volleyball, 8-ball pool, and reading books.

Dr. Nitish Srivastava
Nitish pursued his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Institute of technology Gopeshwar and joined HRED in autumn 2020 to pursue his M.Tech. in Renewable and Hydro Energy Systems (previously called Alternate Hydro Energy Systems). Following his passion for research, he switched to a dual degree program (M.Tech. + Ph.D.) in August 2021. He worked on the development of a solar-powered fertiliser cum irrigation plant co-supervised by Prof. Pratham Arora and defended his thesis on October 10, 2025.
Dr. K. Bheemalingeswara Reddy
Bheema pursued his bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering from GPREC, Kurnool after which he worked as a Graduate Trainee Engineer in TOSHIBA. Due to his interest in Research, further he pursued M.Tech. in Turbomachines from NIT Surat university and joined the department in autumn 2021 for his doctoral work in the field of hydrokinetic technology. He’s passionate about writing drama, playing cricket, participating in quizzes, and workshops. He defended his thesis on February 6, 2025 and is currently working with Baker Hughes at Bangalore.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Sethy
Sunil hails from Bhubaneswar, and has pursued M.Tech. in Energy and Environmental Engineering from NIT Rourkela. He joined the group in August 2020 and works on development of cylindrical PEM fuel cells. Badminton and cricket are some of sports he's passionate about. New technologies too interest him alot! Curently, he's associated with Eastern Electrolysers Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Somar Ghanem
Somar joined the group in July 2021 and has pursued his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Tishreen University in Syria, after which he worked as a Lecturer at Tishreen University (part-time) and in a plastic manufacturing company (full-time). He's a musician and singer and has pleased the audience in many events and parties. Somar also ran his own business of Beekeeping before he received a scholarship to study M.Tech. in S. O. A. University in India.
Dr. Mohammad Saquib (PDF)
Dr. Saquib pursued Ph.D. (2019) at IIT Mandi, India on “Rational Design of Carbon Supported Noble Metal-Based Electrocatalysts for Renewable Energy Applications”. Later, he joined as an Assistant Professor (2020 - 2021) at the Institute of Applied Sciences, Mangalayatan University, Uttar Pradesh, India followed by a project scientist at IIT Kanpur to work on the development of electrocatalysts for N2 to NH3. Dr. Saquib joined our group in Sept. 2022 as a Research Associate and was working on developing electrocatalysts for water splitting. He is an awardee of NET-LS (Chemical Sciences). He is fond of playing cricket and cooking foods. He's currently pursuing a doctoral fellowship in South Korea.
Mr. Yash Mothiya
Yash is from Hyderabad and completed his B. Tech (2021) in Mechanical Engineering from KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology) University, Bhubaneswar, India. He pursued M. Tech. in Hydro & Renewable Energy with thesis work on Hydrokinetic turbines.
Mr. Eihab Mohamed Abdalla
Eihab Mohamed Abdalla hails from Sudan, and is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Omdurman Islamic University (OIU) in 2020. He worked as a teaching assistant (part time) in OIU before joining M. Tech. in the department. He worked on modeling of PEMWE using CFD analysis (Anssys). Eihab is fond of playing football and pool.
Mr. Govind
Govind pursued electrical and electronics engineering from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam technical university lucknow to join M.Tech. program at the department. He worked on energy management system of a fuel cell hybrid vehicle co supervised by Prof Himanshu Jain. Playing cricket and volleyball are few of his hobbies.
Mr. Kunal Basliyal
Kunal worked on "THERMAL MANAGEMENT OF POLYMER ELECTROLYTE MEMBRANE FUEL CELLS WITH A MODIFIED COOLING CHANNEL" as part of his dissertation work. He is currently an employee of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Mr. Narayan Kumar Raut
Narayan, co-supervised by Prof. Pratham Arora, worked on "Modeling of PEM Electrolyzer and ammonia production". He hails from U.P. and is fond playing cricket and chess.
Mr. Prabhat Yadav
Prabhat joined the group in autumn 2020 for his M.Tech. dissertation work on socio-economic viability of pumped hydro storage in Himalayan region. He completed his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and hails from Bihar.

Mr. Harsh Kalra
Harsh Kalra is from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and is currently a second-year postgraduate student in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar. For his master’s project, he is studying the reducibility behaviour of selected perovskite materials under carbon monoxide. He joined the group in December 2025 for a winter internship, where he gained exposure to PEM fuel cells and AEM Electrolyzers.
Ms. Tannu Raj
Tannu Raj is from Patna, Bihar, and is currently a 2nd-year undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna. She has worked on an internship project focusing on PVP-PES blend membranes with nano-fillers in high-temperature PEM fuel cells (HT-PEMFC). Her hobbies include designing and listening to music.
Mr. Swarnim Singh
Swarnim Singh is from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, and is currently pursuing an M. Tech. in Energy Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli. His internship project focuses on waste heat recovery from data centers using TRNSYS. In his free time, he enjoys reading novels and traveling.
Mr. Samrudh Devanahalli Bokkassam
Samrudh is a final-year B.E. Chemical Engineering student at BITS Pilani (Goa Campus), who joined the team in July 2024 for his thesis project. He is currently working on the Thermal Management of High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells using nanofluids. Alongside his academic pursuits, he is passionate about scriptwriting, playing the keyboard, and participating in sports activities like cricket and kabaddi.
Mr. Piyush Tiwari
Piyush Tiwari is pursuing B.Tech. (4th year) in Mechanical Engineering at Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Professional Studies (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University), New Delhi. He joined the group in July 2024 and worked on High Entropy Alloys for direct seawater splitting to hydrogen production. He is fond of playing cricket, photography, and drawing.
Mr. Digvijay Singh
Digvijay Singh, a diligent fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at IIT Roorkee from Haryana, joined the team in May 2024. He is currently concentrating on the durability and testing of PEM fuel cells as part of SPARK internship. Outside of his academic and research pursuits, Digvijay is a passionate squash player.
Ms. Ankita Gupta
Ankita Gupta, a third-year undergraduate student from West Bengal pursuing a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics, joined the group in May 2024 to work on the preparation of catalysts and membrane electrode assemblies for electrolyzers. Her hobbies include dancing and sports.
Mr. Aniket Shah
Aniket hails from Bharuch, Gujarat, a 4th yr undergraduate pursuing Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. He joined the group in August 2021 to work on contact resistance management of cylindrical fuel cells. His hobbies include acting and sports.
