Reinterpretation of Wood Carving as Passive Double Skin Façade
for Cultural & Art Centre
The tropical hot climate found in many parts of the world can present unique challenges when it comes to optimizing daylighting due to consistent sun radiation throughout the year, especially in habitant spaces. The excessive sunlight can contribute to an increase in energy consumption in the building due to the demand for artificial lighting and mechanical ventilation. In addition, high levels of sunlight can contribute to feelings of discomfort and distraction, which can negatively impact the productivity and well-being of building occupants. Implementation of building skin can effectively reduce daylight related issue, which can be managed by façade design characteristic
