My Role as President of Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah
Serving as the President of Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah 2022/2023 was one of the most fulfilling and transformative experiences of my university life. As the leader of the student body, I was responsible for overseeing the management of student welfare, coordinating programs, and fostering a supportive and inclusive community for the residents of the Mahallah.
My primary role involved planning and executing initiatives that catered to the needs and interests of students. I worked closely with the Mahallah office and fellow committee members to organize impactful events, such as leadership training programs, spiritual activities, and community service projects. These activities aimed to nurture the personal growth, academic excellence, and holistic well-being of the residents.
I also played a key role in problem-solving and decision-making, acting as a bridge between students and the administration. Addressing student concerns, ensuring their voices were heard, and advocating for their needs were responsibilities I carried out with utmost dedication. Through this, I learned to manage diverse perspectives, communicate effectively, and lead with empathy.
This role was both challenging and rewarding. It honed my leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills, while also deepening my sense of responsibility and service. Representing Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah and contributing to the betterment of the student community was an honor that greatly enriched my university journey and prepared me for future leadership roles.
My Role as MRC of Media and Publication Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah
As the Head of Media and Publication for MRC Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah at IIUM, I managed all social media platforms. I oversaw media efforts for 13 successful programs. This role required me to develop and implement strategic content plans, ensuring that each post effectively communicated the essence of our Mahallah’s identity while engaging a diverse community.
Through thoughtful content creation and consistent branding, I increased follower engagement by 30%, fostering a stronger connection between the Mahallah and its residents. I designed visually compelling promotional materials, collaborated closely with program committees, and ensured seamless media coverage throughout each event. These efforts enhanced program visibility and boosted community participation and pride.
This experience allowed me to hone my skills in social media management, content creation, and strategic communication. Seeing how my work strengthened my communications skills while elevating Mahallah’s image as a vibrant and active hub of student life was a rewarding experience for me in my life.
PROGRAM AS MRC OF MAHALLAH HALIMATUS SAADIAH
LEADERSHIP TRAINING MCLEAD 22/23
McLead (Mahallah Collaborative Leadership Education and Development) is a transformative leadership program annually designed to enhance the skills and collaboration of Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) members. By uniting leaders from all 18 Mahallahs, McLead fosters teamwork, innovation, and effective governance.
We learn to develop vital skills like decision-making, conflict resolution, and strategic planning through hands-on workshops and real-life simulations. McLead also provides a platform for sharing ideas and building networks, ensuring a unified approach to addressing Mahallah challenges.
By joining McLead, I gain practical experience, personal growth, and the tools to lead confidently and positively. Together, all of us can elevate leadership standards and create a thriving Mahallah community.
MAHALLAH HALIMATUS SAADIAH APPRECIATION NIGHT 22/23
I had the honor of participating in the Mahallah Halimatus Sa’adiah Appreciation for MRC BRC to signify the end of my service as president. This event was a moment of reflection, acknowledging the hard work and commitment I had put into my role throughout my tenure. It also allowed me to express my gratitude to my other 11 MRC members for their unwavering support and collaboration during the many initiatives we worked on together.
During this appreciation event, I was able to celebrate the successes of the Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) and the Bureau of Residential Committee (BRC) while also recognizing the contributions of my fellow committee members. It was a fitting way to close this chapter of leadership and mark the transition to new leadership while ensuring that the legacy of the work done would continue to inspire and guide future members.
Being part of this event allowed me to acknowledge the team's growth and development and gave me a chance to express my thanks to everyone who supported me during my presidency. It was a meaningful and emotional moment, highlighting the achievements and the bonds forged during my leadership.
MAHALLAH TRAINING FOR TRAINERS (MT4T) 22/23 COLLABORATION WITH MAHALLAH ZUBAIR
As the Program Coordinator for the “Training for Trainers MT4T 2023) program, I was responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the event, which took place from 26th to 28th May 2023 at Seminar Rooms 1.4, KENMS, and PD Sanctuary Apartment and Training Camp. The program, organized by the Mahallah Zubair al-Awwam and Mahallah Halimatus Sa’adiah Representative Committees, aimed to build and strengthen the leadership capacity of new MRC and BRC members.
My role included coordinating logistics, managing communication between participants and speakers, and ensuring the event's smooth operation. I worked closely with the organizing team to ensure all activities, including group sessions and programs, were carried out effectively. I also helped troubleshoot challenges such as venue changes and tight preparation timelines, ensuring the program remained on track. The event successfully achieved its objectives of enhancing leadership skills, fostering ukhuwah (brotherhood), and preparing participants for high-impact programs.
REWANG RAMADAN: JAUHAR URBAN FARMING
As the Assistant Program Manager for “Rewang Ramadan: Jauhar Urban Farming 2023,” I played a key role in coordinating and executing the event smoothly. The program, which aimed to prepare and distribute “Gulai Kawah” for iftar to needy students, involved collaboration between various groups, including MRC Mahallah Halimatus Sa’adiah, Maryam, Zubair, Siddiq, and the Centre for International Islamic Culture (Citra IIUM).
My responsibilities included overseeing logistical preparations, coordinating communication between participants and organizers, and ensuring all resources were in place for a successful event. I helped manage the schedule, assisted with the distribution of tasks among team members, and supported the program manager in addressing any issues that arose during the event. Additionally, I contributed to ensuring the program ran smoothly, from the early cooking preparations to the distribution of meals, while promoting the event's to the residents.
The event was a success, with 50 MRC members and 450 participants coming together to foster a sense of community and support while embracing the values of charity and teamwork in the spirit of Ramadan.
MAHALLAH HALIMATUS SAADIAH APPRECIATION NIGHT 21/22
As a member of the organizing committee for the Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah Appreciation Night, I played a crucial role in planning and delivering a memorable event dedicated to honoring the former MRC and BRC members for their tireless efforts in making countless programs a success. Managing various aspects of the event, from conceptualizing the theme to coordinating logistics and media, I worked alongside a committed team to ensure every detail reflected the gratitude and respect these individuals deserved.
The night featured heartfelt speeches, personalized awards, and tokens of appreciation, all aimed at celebrating the honorees' dedication, resilience, and leadership. My role also included managing media efforts to capture and promote the event, ensuring it reached a wider audience and inspired the current Mahallah community.
This event was more than a celebration; it was a tribute to the legacy of teamwork and selfless service within Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah. Witnessing the honorees’ joy and pride reinforced the importance of acknowledging contributions and inspired me to uphold the tradition of fostering a supportive and vibrant Mahallah culture.
MAHALLAH TRAINING FOR TRAINERS (MT4T) 21/22
The MT4T program was a transformative experience designed to equip new MRC and BRC members with essential physical, mental, and spiritual skills. Collaborating with MRC Mahallah Zubair, the event was held at Telaga Batin, Terengganu. The event spanned three days and two nights, bringing together 80 participants and four officers under the theme “Survival.”
The program was packed with challenging and enriching activities, including group formation, camping, flying fox, survival, and a treasure hunt. These activities encouraged teamwork, resilience, and adaptability while fostering leadership, confidence, time management, and critical thinking. Participants also gained valuable insights into planning impactful programs, preparing them for their roles as MRC and BRC members.
As a special task committee member for the MT4T program, my role was central to the planning, organizing, and executing this motivational training event. My team and I helped coordinate activities such as group formation and all the activities, ensuring everything ran smoothly. My responsibilities included overseeing logistics, ensuring safety protocols, supporting facilitators, and ensuring all materials and resources were available. Throughout the program, the committee played a crucial role in fostering a positive environment where participants could develop their leadership, confidence, and critical thinking skills. The MT4T program provided practical skills and created unforgettable memories and impactful and strengthened bonds among participants, making it an invaluable experience for everyone involved.
WELCOMING NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS "LOVE & AFFECTION"
For the Welcoming New Students: Love & Affection program, I was responsible as preparation and technical for managing the technical and logistical aspects of the event. This included setting up the venue, ensuring the functionality of audiovisual equipment, and troubleshooting any technical issues during the program. 122 students successfully participated in the event, and my role was crucial in creating a smooth and engaging experience for all participants. This opportunity enhanced my problem-solving, time management, and teamwork skills while contributing to the program’s overall success.
POWERPOINT WORKSHOP
As Program Manager for the PowerPoint Workshop, I oversaw the planning and execution of an event to enhance students’ PowerPoint skills. My responsibilities included coordinating with the speaker, En. Andi Sukma Lubiz, manages logistics, promotes the event to maximise participation, and ensures smooth facilitation during the session.
I worked closely with the MRC team to create an engaging and impactful program, from organising the virtual platform to moderating the workshop and gathering feedback. Afterwards, 90 students successfully joined the workshop, making it a highly impactful program. This role honed my leadership, organisation, and communication skills, and it was rewarding to see students benefit from the knowledge shared.
BLOCK BEAUTIFICATION WEEK MAHALLAH HALIMATUS SA'ADIAH
As the Financial Controller for Mahallah Halimah Block Beautification Week (BBW), I managed the program’s budget and ensured the effective allocation of financial resources. My duties included preparing the budget proposal, tracking expenses, and preparing the price for the winner.
I worked closely with my MRC team to provide the necessary materials for the decoration days and prizes for the top three blocks. Over 50 participants from all blocks, including all MRCs, BRCs, and residents, successfully joined the event, fostering a sense of community and creativity. This role enhanced my financial management, attention to detail, and collaboration skills, contributing to the smooth execution of this meaningful program.
KASIH RAMADAN 2022
The Kasih Ramadan program was a meaningful initiative that featured two impactful subprograms aimed at fostering a sense of unity and spirituality during the holy month of Ramadan. The first subprogram, the Rewang Bubur Lambuk activity, was a collaborative effort between MRC Halimah and MRC Maryam, where both teams worked together to prepare bubur lambuk for the residents. This activity was carried out under the guidance of the IIUM Shas Mosque staff, and it served as a beautiful way to share blessings and bring the community closer.
The second subprogram, the Iftar Mahabbah program, was designed to unite the residents of Mahallah Halimah and the Imam Terawih prayer group from Mahallah Zubair for a shared iftar experience at the Mahallah Halimah Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH). This program aimed to promote a sense of usrah (brotherhood and sisterhood) and togetherness, offering a time for reflection, connection, and celebration during Ramadan. Overall, the Kasih Ramadan program brought the MRC and the community together and helped create lasting memories and a stronger bond among the residents.
HALIMAH GET TOGETHER
As the program coordinator for the Halimah Get Together, I was responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the event, which marked the first physical sports program organized by the Bureau of Sports and Recreation after the COVID-19 outbreak. The event saw participation from around 40 residents and was attended by our principals and fellows.
My responsibilities included coordinating the event’s logistics, managing the schedule, and ensuring all activities were engaging and well-organized. We ensured the activities promoted a healthy lifestyle and fostered team spirit among participants. I also facilitated communication between the residents, the organizing committee, and the attendees, ensuring everyone was informed and prepared for the event. The program’s success was reflected in the energetic and competitive atmosphere, as all participants enjoyed the activities and built stronger connections with one another.
CULTURAL EXCHANGE TALK: RAYA EDITION
As the secretary for the cultural exchange event “Raya Edition,” my primary role as the secretary was to handle administrative tasks such as preparing reports, taking minutes during meetings, and ensuring proper documentation for the event. This program As the secretary for the online cultural exchange event “Raya Edition,” my primary responsibility revolved around managing various administrative tasks critical to the success of the program. One of my essential duties included preparing detailed reports documenting the event's planning process and outcomes. This required meticulous attention to detail, as I needed to capture crucial information during meetings and discussions.
I was also tasked with taking minutes during our planning meetings, ensuring that every critical point was recorded accurately for future reference. This helped the organizing team stay on track and facilitated seamless follow-ups on action items. Additionally, I ensured that all event documentation was organized and easily accessible, allowing us to maintain a clear record of our preparations.
The "Raya Edition" program featured an impressive lineup of speakers from diverse cultural backgrounds, specifically from Japan, Indonesia, and Morocco. Each speaker shared unique perspectives on how international students celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, enriching the event’s content and providing participants with valuable insights into different traditions and customs surrounding this significant holiday. Overall, the event was well-received, garnering a positive response with an impressive 1,175 views on YouTube. This feedback was incredibly encouraging and highlighted the interest in cross-cultural dialogue among students.
TANYALAH USTAZAH 2.0 EDUCATED WOMEN, CIVILIZED SOCIETY
Tanyalah Ustazah 2.0 was organized as a follow-up to the highly successful Tanyalah Ustazah 1.0, which received significant positive feedback from participants. The program aimed to provide an interactive platform for students to ask questions and gain insights on various religious and personal development topics from knowledgeable female scholars (Ustazah Amni) lecturer from Syariah Darul Ulum Islamic College.
Building on the success of its predecessor, Tanyalah Ustazah 2.0 expanded its scope, addressing a more comprehensive range of subjects while maintaining the engaging and supportive environment that made the first program so well-received. The positive feedback from 1.0 highlighted the program’s effectiveness in fostering a deeper understanding of religious practices and personal growth, which we strived to enhance in the second edition.
As part of the organizing team, I contributed to promoting the event. My role as a prep tech also included gathering feedback and ensuring that the event continued to meet the needs of the participants, helping to improve and maintain the program’s positive reputation. Alhamdulillah, we received 337 views for this program, and it is to bring hope and benefits to everyone, particularly our residents.
WOMEN IN AWE (ACADEMY FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT)
The Women in Awe program, the Academy for Women Empowerment, was designed to empower students, particularly sisters, by enhancing their skills in taharah while also introducing them to the fundamentals of public speaking and the art of persuasion. Over two consecutive weeks, the program featured two key components: “Tanyalah Ustazah” in the first week and “Emcee Like A Pro” in the second week. We were proud to provide prominent speakers such as Shafiq Chulan, an IIUM graduate in communication, and Ustazah Saidatolakma from Fiqh, who enriched the participants' learning experience.
In my role as the Publication and Promotion, I played a pivotal role in creating promotional materials, including eye-catching posters and a comprehensive program agenda, which were instrumental in driving participant engagement. My responsibilities included managing all aspects of the event's publicity and utilizing various communication channels to raise awareness and stimulate interest effectively.
Thanks to these efforts, we were thrilled to welcome an impressive turnout of 465 students, which maximized our outreach and significantly contributed to the program’s overall success. The enthusiasm and participation demonstrated the participants' commitment to personal growth and development in these essential areas.
FLY WITH UIA "STRECH YOUR MIND & FLY"
The “Fly With UIA” program was a program to shed light on the IIUM student exchange program. The goal was to address students’ curiosity about the program by guiding them through the application process and the expectations of studying abroad.
As the Assistant Program Manager (APM), my role was crucial in coordinating the logistics of this event. I was responsible for helping the program manager schedule the session at a time that would accommodate most participants, and I worked closely with our speakers to ensure they were prepared and equipped to deliver insightful presentations. This involved not just coordinating their contributions but also aligning their schedules to maximize their availability for the session.
In addition to managing the administrative aspects, I prioritized maintaining open lines of communication between the speakers and the participants. This included pre-event briefings with speakers to review their presentations and identify any potential questions that might arise. During the session, I ensured that the audience had the opportunity to interact through Q&A segments, which allowed for a more engaging and informative experience.
By the end of the session, we received wonderful feedback from attendees who expressed their gratitude for the clarity and depth of information shared about the exchange program. I felt a great sense of accomplishment knowing that we successfully addressed the curiosity of 315 students, many of whom were considering taking the next step in their academic journey by studying abroad.
MAHALLAH URBAN FARMING PROJECT- OCRA, CILI, KULAI & ROCKMELON
The Mahallah Urban Farming program was a groundbreaking initiative to introduce the residents of Mahallah Halimatus Saadiah to the benefits of the fertigation system while enhancing the beauty of the Mahallah garden for the beautification of Mahallah Halimah. Under the theme “Planting for the Future Foodscape,” the project involved cultivating cucumbers from scratch and selling the harvest to local buyers, promoting sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship among residents. This is also an opportunity for me and others to learn new skills, including entrepreneurship.
The program was collaborative, bringing together principals, fellows, MRCs, and BRCs from Mahallah Halimah, Asma’, Maryam, and Siddiq. Guided by our mentor, Cg Ibrahim from SK Air Jalan Panas, the initiative demonstrated the power of teamwork and community engagement. This project educated participants about sustainable farming techniques and created an opportunity to connect with the local community, reinforcing the values of responsibility and innovation. This program taught me patience, and it was such a fun experience.
