For nearly ten years, planning has been underway for an Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Center. This cutting-edge center of excellence aims to be a globally recognized hub for applied Research and Development and advanced skills training across eight target industries: aerospace and defense, automotive, biotech and life sciences, construction, energy, geospatial, plant sciences and agtech, and transportation and logistics. With backing from Boeing, Ranken Technical College, the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership (SLEDP), Greater St. Louis, Inc. (GSL), and other key stakeholders, the region has already secured federal investment from the Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC) to break ground in North St. Louis. BBBRC funding will also support community engagement around AMIC and the creation of an advanced manufacturing cluster strategy for the region informed by the Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (RAMP).
