Early bird registration occurs at the end of a given season and runs into August in a normal year. For the 2026 summer season, it will open from October 18, 2025 and end on December 31, 2025. It gives ONLY current season members, (in good financial standing, that have completed all their volunteer obligations), the opportunity to secure their Amherst Swim Team membership for the next season, by paying an early (e.g. before spring registration) nonrefundable Amherst Swim Team membership fee. Registration is done online.
Regular registration begins and September and the online link remains open through April in a normal year. For the 2026 season, regular registration will begin on January 1, 2026, and ends May 31, 2026. Registration is nonrefundable, and is open to Amherst School District students and/or full-time residents who are interested in joining the team. This year, we will be opening up registration to included surrounding communities that do not have a swim team already (Lorain, Firelands, Vermilion, etc.).
In order to meet insurance requirements, a safety assessment that will insure that the swimmer can safely swim the 25 yard length of the Maude Neiding Pool will be done during the first practice. Any swimmer not passing the assessment will be ruled INELIGIBLE for competition for the swim season, and offered a choice of converting membership to a Comet Clinic session, or receiving a refund (minus processing fees).
Fees for the 2026 season are $265 per swimmer, plus a $20 concession fee per family. Returning swimmers registering during the Early Bird period will receive a $35 discount. All families are eligible for a multi-swimmer discount ($10 off for your second swimmer, $20 off for your third, and $30 off for fourth or more).
There will be two Comet Clinics offered in 2026. Clinic 1 runs from 6/15/26-7/3/26, and Clinic 2 runs 7/6/26-7/24/26. Both sessions will swim daily except for Wednesdays. The cost per Comet Clinic is $185 per swimmer. Clinics are eligible for both the Early Bird discount of $35 and multi-swimmer discounts.
All registration goes through our Active.com link. All fees are paid online and are NON REFUNDABLE, with the exception of a failed safety assessment.
Fees MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE FIRST PRACTICE OF THE SEASON. Swimmers will not be permitted to practice if membership fees are not paid.
Members are required to pay the Amherst Summer Swim Team any bank fees associated with insufficient funds.
