Amey Agharkar

About Me

I am Amey Nitin Agharkar, and I am a PhD student at Indian Institute of Science. (IISc). I joined for PhD at IISc, in January 2019 under the Prime Minister's Research Fellow Scheme (PMRF). Before joining PhD, I have completed my Bachelors from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT- NIT Surat). Throughout my undergraduate education and even at IISc, I have held various student affairs, training positions and have participated in many events. 

At IISc, I am enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER) Department. I work jointly for the  Multiphase transport processes Lab (Mechanical Department) and the Molecular Pathogenesis Lab ( Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology), under the guidance of and Prof. Saptarshi Basu (Mechanical Department and ICER) and Prof.  Dipshikha Chakravortty ( Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology).

Achievements

Recognised as Pathbreaker-Special Attendee Youth Icon by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue at New Delhi, 10-12 January 2025

Was awarded the best poster award at a workshop on “Interfacial Engineering at Multiple Spatio-temporal Scales” by Springer in January 2024 at IISc

Work was selected as a 'Highlighted Poster' at the PMRF Annual Symposium 2023 for presentation to the Minister of State, MHRD, Government of India, and the IIT Madras Director.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Gave a talk at the NISE 24 international conference in November 2024 at Granada, Spain 

Taught "Engineering Mathematics" and "Engineering Thermodynamics" at Ramaiah Polytechnic College as a requirement of the PMRF program by MHRD, Government of India, for 1 hour per week from 2021-23. 

Gave a talk at the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics in November 2023 in Washington. D.C, USA
