People across the globe wave the U.S. Flag in the name of Freedom; but in our country, we burn it in the name of justice.
The entire Globe has been impacted by the ramifications of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has taken the lives of millions and shattered the lives of millions more. It seems as if the entire globe is synonymously in crisis mode, as it seems outrest after outrest spans across the world. From Hong Kong to the United States itself; people are not happy.
1 in 10 Americans claimed they were not proud or very little proud of being an American. America has seen some tough battles during the Covid-19 Pandemic; from the horrid wrath of the pandemic itself, to the battle between Republicans and Democrats.
However; we still have so much to be proud of as Americans. Nowhere in the world is as free and opportunistic as the United States of America. Nowhere in the world promotes the foundation of government in which all citizens of Earth should enjoy as the United States of America does.
Notice protestors in other countries, the flags they carry in the name of freedom and democracy; the American Flag. In other countries, the American Flag symobilises hope and freedom in a time of desperation and oppression. Citizens in countries like China and Cuba who face brutal oppressive ruling by their communist/socialist governments; look to the American Flag as a beacon of hope, a symbol for a better future, a light in an empty night sky.
Notice protestors in our country, and what they do to the American Flag in the name of "freedom" and "justice." How they kneel for the National Anthem, how they turn their backs on the American Flag, how they step on the American Flag, how they burn the American Flag, how they disrespect the American Flag. The American Flag is a beacon of hope; but in many Americans' eyes, it is now a symbol of oppression, of divisiveness, of inequality, and of hate.
The American Flag and American Democracy we see constantly bashed by its own citizens is appalling considering the hope it gives to those actually being oppressed. For those actually being starved. For those who are actually being imprisoned. For those who actually need to flee their governments. The American Flag has long been a beacon of hope, the symbol of opportunity and freedom, and the epitome of a true and free government.
Americans should be more grateful. Grateful that they could bash the government they are so dedicated to trashing, grateful that they can take to the streets and voice their opinions without worrying about the ramifications, grateful they can live in a country so many across the Globe attempt to reach.
