Racing in the spectacular AC75s in Auckland, New Zealand will begin on 17-20 December 2020 with the PRADA America's Cup World Series Auckland and the PRADA Christmas Race. The PRADA Cup, the Challenger Selection Series, begins on 15 January 2021. The winner of the PRADA Cup will meet the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the 36th America's Cup Match starting on 6th March 2021.

The presence of bad blood between the teams After Italy's Luna Rossa Regatta initially successfully protested against the use of the British team's sail control system in the early days, it proved to be out of competition rules.

Team UK and Luna Rossa are competing for some control in the next America Cup. The cup-holder team has worked under New Zealand as Luna Rossa Challenger of Records which allows them to jointly determine the rules of regatta and the use of used boats.
