As an alternative to prison, young American Joe Armstrong is conscripted into the U.S. Army by a judge. Joe ends up fighting off the Black Star Order of ninjas while stationed in the Philippines. He saves Patricia Hickock - daughter of Colonel William Hickock, Joe's commanding officer - from a kidnapping attempt. But when the rest of Joe's platoon is wiped out by the Black Star ninjas, Joe's popularity with his fellow GIs takes a nosedive even as he is targeted for revenge by the Black Star Master who directs the ninja order.

While they are performing chores on the base, Corporal Curtis Jackson goads Joe into a fight. Jackson proves no match for Joe's ninjitsu expertise, which greatly impresses him and their fellow soldiers. Shortly thereafter, Jackson discovers that Joe is an amnesiac; he remembers very little of his past, other than running with various street gangs and mastering several exotic martial arts. The grateful Patricia organizes a date for herself with Joe. Jackson and another soldier, Charley Madison, sneak Joe off the base. Joe and Patricia are caught during dinner by First Sergeant Rinaldo. Rinaldo is in the middle of a meeting with black marketer Victor Ortega, whose payroll the sergeant is on. To get Joe out of the way, Rinaldo leads him to an abandoned warehouse, ostensibly for dropping off supplies. There Joe is ambushed by ninjas but defeats all of them. Then Joe's truck is stolen, and he gives chase using a motorcycle. The truck driver runs Joe off the road; thinking Joe dead, he brings the truck to Ortega.

Joe, however, hides under the truck. He is brought to the heart of Ortega's operation, which encompasses the Black Star ninja training camp. Ortega is paying the Black Star Order for weapons stolen from the Army, which he then resells to the highest bidder. Joe is discovered but escapes with the aid of Ortega's servant Shinyuki. Returning to the base, Joe is promptly arrested by military police under Rinaldo's false accusation that Joe himself is fencing the arms. Jackson realizes that Joe has been set up, but his protests are wasted on Rinaldo. The Black Star Master infiltrates the base that night and slaughters the on-duty MPs. He then tries to kill Joe, but is thwarted by the sudden arrival of MP reinforcements, none of whom see the Black Star Master fleeing the scene. One of the dead MPs is found with a throwing star lodged in his head, further implicating Joe.

Inspired by the popular TV show, this one-of-a-kind adventure park experience includes truss obstacles such as Monkey Swings, Spider Walls, Tilting Logs, Floating Bridges and of course the famous Warped Wall. In addition to the truss obstacles, there is a 10,000 sq. ft. inflatable obstacle course. The revolutionary adventure park combines fitness and fun, providing participants an opportunity to master their ninja skills.

Besides the backyard, Behrle began working out in so-called "ninja gyms," gymnastics centers with their own versions of American Ninja Warrior obstacles, often with wrestling mats and foam pits for safety in place of the TV show's swimming pools.

"It turns out northern New Jersey is a hotspot for ninja gyms," Behrle says. "In my first year of high school I couldn't get up the Warped Wall because I was only like 5'1". I would do really well in the competitions until the Warped Wall, and that's when all the adults would pass me. But I knew I was gonna get taller."

"I competed in a teen ninja competition. There are stages to ninja events; I got to stage three and I fell, but no one else finished stage one," he says. It was an epiphany: "It was like, oh, the obstacles I built in my backyard are actually helping me, and I'm actually pretty good at this."

He only got better from there. He began competing with, and now works for, the National Ninja League, an organization that hosts amateur ninja contests for athletes of a variety of ages and skill levels. In 2017, he won the league's national youth division championship.

At age 14, he also hosted his own backyard ninja competition fundraiser for Ninja for a Cure, a nonprofit founded by three-time American Ninja Warrior contestant Henry Ferrarin that raises money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Behrle has since raised more than $15,000 over four total Ninja for a Cure events.

The Ninja Comes to Lewisburg

When it came time to choose a college, Behrle says he made his decision "without any thoughts of ninja in mind." Like many Bucknellians, he was first drawn to Bucknell's academic reputation, then fell in love with the campus upon visiting.

Today, Behrle still balances homework and ninja training. As he prepared for the show, he alternated weeknights devoted to school work and workouts, with much of his physical prep happening on the climbing wall in Gerhard Fieldhouse, where he has a part-time job. As his classmates and professors learned about what he was doing, Behrle found a supportive community to cheer him on.

"I do not think I will be applying again next year because I don't want to spend my last semester of my senior year focusing on getting my weight right or how many pull-ups I can do. But after that? If I get a job near a ninja gym, I still love the sport and I will totally be going to that ninja gym twice a week or more. And I would definitely consider doing this again in the future."

For him, ninja sports are a release. He has Tourette Syndrome and learned at an early age that organized team sports sparked tic's, and induced severe anxiety. But, he discovered ninja sports have the opposite affect.

She said that Evan has always seen the world around him as an obstacle course, and though he needed some correction when he was younger, since finding ninja sports with the Windsor Ninja Academy as an outlet, he has a true way to relax and unwind.

"I wouldn't say I came into it already being good at it," she said. "But it feels like a calling. It combined every sport I did as a kid and while I wasn't super good at it right away, I definitely had the potential to get very good at it. The combination of all these things, I think, led up to me finding ninja and needing it in my life."

Wannabe warriors can explore six obstacle lanes during 60-, 90-, or 120-minute sessions (starting at $22 per person; monthly memberships are available from $25). The courses were intentionally designed for varying ability levels, so everyone from novice ninjas to seasoned obstacle crushers can find a suitable challenge. Never tried a Monkey Swing before? There will be staff members on-site to help you master tricky moves.

As Greene looks to the future, she is not yet sure what she wants to do, however, she is currently considering going to college to learn about sports medicine and maybe become a physical therapist. She may also want to work in the ninja gym someday or run her own.

All skill levels are welcome: beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels. Improve agility, strength, coordination, and skills. Preparing for competition? Or just having some fun with our unique ninja challenges? Our coaches will work with you to help you achieve your personal goals.

While "ninja warrior" isn't a conventional sport, ninja-style workouts and movements that mirror the TV show have become popular across the country. The gym has obstacles and courses that have been featured on the show.

COULTON: It's the finals. And instead of Mount Midoriyama, we're on a tour of world landmarks. Joe "The Weatherman" Moravsky piloted a gondola down a Venetian canal, salmon-laddered up the Eiffel Tower and is making his way through every station at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Will he be the last ninja standing?

A focus on the ninjas became part of the formula. No one attempts the course without giving the TV audience a bit of personal history. There are background segments in which ninjas describe setbacks and aspirations, and when the race starts, the cameras often cut away to anxious family members sitting in the stands. Ninjas come from every walk of life: There are ex-jocks, students, veterans, cops, lawyers, artists, EMTs. There have been autistic ninjas and legally blind ninjas. Ninjas break down 75% male to 25% female. You have to be 21 to enter, and the oldest ninja, Chuck Mammay, is a sprightly 73.

Below are a few areas we will focus on during the camp: Skill and technique training for ninja obstacles Flying obstacles over our foam pit Basic Parkour training Agility and body awareness training Fun ninja games and activities Ninja warrior double lane speed course Rock climbing for grip training Mini trampoline to obstacle training Warped wall training Free time to practice what they learned 006ab0faaa
