Ham and Turkey Shoots - Held Annually
Next shoot - March 17th, 24th
Ham Shoots are held the 2 Sundays before Easter, and Turkey Shoots are held the 3 Sundays before Thanksgiving. Ticket sales start at 8:00 and the event starts at 9:30am.
Bring your own shotgun or use shotguns provided. All ammunition (12,16,20, or 410).is provided by the Post. No ammunition may be brought onto the premises.
Cost is $3 per target for regular rounds, and $5 for money rounds (every 10th round)
Ham Shoots offer prizes of one ham gift card and one turkey certificate per round of 25 targets. Money rounds offer prizes of $50 and $25. Proceeds go to Youth Organizations sponsored by the American Legion.
Turkey Shoots offer prizes of two Turkey certificates and one ham gift card per round of 35 targets. Money rounds offer prizes of $50, $25, and $10. Proceeds go to Christmas Gifts for needy families in our local communities.
American Legion Post 76 - Save your place in line for the shoots!
No more staying overnight in the parking lot or handing out tickets at 4am. The link will officially open at 10pm on the Saturday before each shoot day, and close at 7am on the day of the shoot.
Submit the form from the link HERE. Each form will be time stamped. Only 1 response will be accepted per email address/per person.
Please remember to enter your details correctly and hit SUBMIT. Once you hit submit, you will receive an email confirming we have received your request. Check spam if you do not find it.
At 8am on the day of the shoot. We will begin calling names by timestamp. You will select and pay for rounds for those in your party when we call your number. If you are not present when your number is called, you will be skipped.
Please understand this is our first trial of this approach, so please be patient with us while we work out the bugs. We will have the "save your place in line" list printed for you to see at 8am, to know your place in line. See you soon!
Those that have not pre-registered, will receive numbers on a first come, first served basis.
Memorial Day Parade - May 27, 2024
This year’s Memorial Day event is Monday May 27, 2024.
All veteran, youth groups, business, schools, band groups, city entities and the like are welcome to join the parade. There is no fee or pre-registration for this event.
No political, lifestyle or advertisement of product is allowed during the parade or ceremony. This event is a memorial to those that have given their life in service to our country. There can be no distribution of any materials, handouts or candy during the parade.
No registration is required. If you wish to participate, please arrive at Wheaton Memorial Park not later than 0930 on the day of the event and check in with the members of the American Legion Parade Committee. They will be located at the southeast corner of the park and wearing red ball caps.
You cannot drive into the park area unless you have a vehicle or float in the parade. Participants must drop off marchers outside the park area.
The parade will start at 10:00 am being led by the City of Wheaton Police/Color Guard and Fire Departments. Line-up begins at Hale St and Union Ave heading west to West St and turning south. The parade will end at the Wheaton Cemetery where we will hold a ceremony at 11:00am.

The parade begins at the corner of Hale St. and Wesley St. and proceeds West on Wesley St. to West St. then South on West St. to Wheaton Cemetery.
