Behind The Screen
"We rarely decide a story is too complex! The more complex, the better, because it really forces you to dive in and learn all you can about the topic."
- Amelia Moseley
Amelia Moseley (pictured) is a 35-year-old journalist and presenter who works for the renowned Australian news program, Behind the News, more commonly known as BTN. She is a very diversly recognised face as many of BTN's viewers are Australian primary school students, teens, and young adults from all over the country. Amelia lives in Adelaide and has a degree in journalism, she has been the presenter of BTN since 2018 and was a reporter for the show for a number of years before.
Amelia grew up in Adelaide and still lives there today. She had a great love of reading and words as a child and watched BTN and other news channels quite often. She also loves to use her imagination and write stories about all sorts of topics and genres. Her initial interest in journalism was sparked when Princess Diana passed, she was inspired by the confronting images and the world's reaction to the news amazed her. It deeply intrigued her and ever since then, she has had a great interest in knowing all about sorts of current affairs, whether they be nationally or internationally. She was a very shy child and since her interest was uncovered, she worked on her confidence in public speaking. From then, she has learnt everything she could about news around the world, watching news channels every day.
After completing primary and secondary education, Amelia went to university to complete a degree in journalism, which at the time, was a requirement to work for BTN to ensure you had necessary skills. She got a job as a reporter for the show and was appointed as the presenter after former presenter Nathan Bazely stepped down. She has been the show's presenter ever since and starts every episode with a bright smile. Amelia still does some reporting and participates in skits; she also writes some articles and always ensures they are entertaining and presents them with a bright tone.
Amelia has made a huge impact on many kids across all of Australia in more ways than one. Something she does that makes an impact is she ensures all articles are written from a neutral perspective to let people decide where they stand for themselves, allowing kids to develop their own sense of what is right and wrong. She also makes sure the articles are written so that even most young children can understand what is being reported, this makes BTN a good resource for primary schools to use in their teaching. Amelia is a very good role model for any young children or teens that are interested in journalism, and she continues to inspire people every day.
Amelia has had a very successful journey in her career, going from watching BTN as a child to hosting it. She has made a huge impact on Australian children and the media over her time working for BTN. Her commitment to teaching herself and other people about all sorts of current affairs really shows how passionate and dedicated she is towards the show. She has proven herself to be a hard-working, diligent presenter/reporter over the years which is reflected in her quote, "We rarely decide a story is too complex! The more complex, the better, because it really forces you to dive in and learn all you can about the topic."
