Privacy Notice
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how AmeetsB collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal data when you book or attend one of our Muslim marriage introduction events. Please read it carefully before purchasing a ticket.
AmeetsB (trading as AmeetsB Muslim Speed Dating) is the data controller for personal data collected in connection with our events. We are based in England and Wales. We are responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is used. Where we rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis for processing, we have carried out a balancing test to ensure that our interests do not override your rights and freedoms.
Organisation: AmeetsB Muslim Speed Dating
Contact: ameetsb08@gmail.com
2. What Personal Data We Collect
We may collect the following personal data when you book or attend an Event:
• Full name
• Email address
• Age and date of birth
• Gender
• Relationship status (single, divorced, or widowed)
• Faith (Muslim)
• Payment information (processed via Eventbrite, bank transfer, or cash payment)
• Scorecard preferences submitted during the Event (for matching purposes)
• Any additional information you voluntarily provide to us
We do not collect sensitive data beyond what is necessary for the nature of the Event (faith-based marriage introduction). We do not collect financial data directly — payment processing is handled by Eventbrite or your bank.
Some of the personal data we collect constitutes special category data under Article 9 of the UK GDPR. Specifically, this includes religious belief (Muslim faith) and, where relevant, information about relationship status or health disclosed voluntarily. Special category data requires a higher level of protection and a specific lawful basis for processing.
We rely on the following conditions under Article 9 UK GDPR for processing special category data: (a) explicit consent — given by you at the point of booking or registration when you confirm your eligibility and faith; and (b) where necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims, or for reasons of substantial public interest under the Equality Act 2010, which permits the use of sensitive characteristics for faith-based activities. We do not use your special category data for any purpose beyond the administration and delivery of the Event and the matching process.
3. How and Why We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:

Processing your booking and payment: Performance of a contract
Sending booking confirmations and event updates: Performance of a contract
Administering the Event on the day: Performance of a contract

Sending you information about future AmeetsB events: Legitimate interests (you can opt out at any time)
Complying with legal obligations: Legal obligation
Fraud prevention and security: Legitimate interests
Direct marketing from AmeetsB (optional): Consent — you must actively opt in
Sharing data with third-party marketing partners (optional): Consent — you must actively opt in
4. Who We Share Your Data With
Where a mutual match is made at an Event, we will share your contact details (name and email address) with your matched Attendee only. This is the primary purpose of the matching process. We will not share your details with any non-matched Attendee.
We may share your data with third-party service providers who help us operate our events, including ticketing platforms (Eventbrite) and communication tools. These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are only permitted to use your data as we instruct.
We will only share your personal data with third-party partners for their own marketing purposes where you have explicitly opted in to this via a separate, clear consent mechanism. Purchasing a ticket does not constitute consent to third-party marketing data sharing. You may withdraw this consent at any time by emailing ameetsb08@gmail.com.
We may disclose your personal data to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of AmeetsB, our attendees, or others.
5. How Long We Keep Your Data
We will retain your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:
• Booking and attendance records: 12 months from the Event date
• Match data (scorecard results): deleted within 30 days of the Event once matches have been communicated
• Marketing consent records: retained until you withdraw consent, then deleted within 30 days
• Payment records: retained for 6 years in accordance with HMRC requirements
After the relevant retention period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymised.
6. Your Data Protection Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
• Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances
• Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — you can ask us to provide your data in a portable format
• Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing
• Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at ameetsb08@gmail.com. We will respond within one month of receiving your request. There is no charge for exercising your rights in most circumstances.
7. Marketing Communications
We will only send you direct marketing emails about future AmeetsB events and related services where:
• You have explicitly opted in to receive such communications; or
• You have previously attended or booked an AmeetsB event and we are contacting you about similar upcoming events (soft opt-in under PECR), subject to your right to opt out at any time.
We will never sell your data to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit prior consent. You can unsubscribe from AmeetsB marketing at any time by emailing ameetsb08@gmail.com with the subject line “Unsubscribe” or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Data is stored securely and access is limited to those who need it to operate the Event. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as required by law.
9. Eventbrite and Third-Party Platforms
Where you purchase tickets via Eventbrite, your data is also subject to Eventbrite’s own privacy policy. We recommend you review Eventbrite’s privacy notice at eventbrite.co.uk. AmeetsB is not responsible for the data practices of Eventbrite or any other third-party platform.
10. Photography and Filming at Events
AmeetsB may photograph, film, or record Events. Where footage or images may be used for identifiable promotional purposes, including on Instagram, TikTok, or other social media, AmeetsB will display a clear notice at the Event. For incidental crowd or group footage where individuals are not the focus, AmeetsB relies on a reasonable notice-based approach. If you do not wish to appear in identifiable promotional content, please notify us in writing before the Event at ameetsb08@gmail.com and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request. We cannot guarantee exclusion from incidental group footage. Where we wish to use footage in which you are identifiable for marketing purposes beyond incidental crowd shots, we will seek your separate consent where practicable.
11. Complaints and the ICO
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at ameetsb08@gmail.com and we will do our best to resolve it. If you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):
• Website: ico.org.uk
• Helpline: 0303 123 1113
You also have the right to seek a judicial remedy against AmeetsB if you believe your data protection rights have been infringed.
12. Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The current version will always be available on request by emailing ameetsb08@gmail.com and via our social media profiles. We will notify you of any material changes where we have your contact details.
