I can confirm this is happening to me too, and strangely it started occurring even before explicitly updating my Radeon Software version. It could be that I had/have automatic software updates enabled, but as part of troubleshooting the issue I saw the driver update and updated to it hoping it would fix things.

I am using Ubuntu 21.04 and I wanted to install OpenCL in order to mine. After accidentally installing the AMD pro driver and then uninstalling it, I am now left without any driver, as reported by sudo lshw -c video:

From what I've read, the official AMD drivers aren't supported with my kernel version, but I should be able to revert to the original default driver, right? I also found someone who had success with 21.04 with just installing OpenCL over the default here.

I was trying to import a cad file into rhino and after the dialog box said " successfully imported" the model space still looked empty. Assuming it just imported far out I tried to zoom extents to find the cad at which point I got an error message (attached) that said essentially AMD bug driver timeout. I tried to trouble shoot and checked for updates/updated rhino and all of my rhino plug ins. As a side note, my windows 10 updated yesterday. After each update and option I tried, I would still get the error message.

However, after updated my graphics drivers and trying again, now anytime I try to open ANY rhino not just import this cad file, my pc completely freezes and the only way out is a hard restart. I was able to borrow a second graphics card and after putting it in and testing it, rhino is running fine on the new graphics card.

This preview driver is intended to provide users an early first-look into upcoming features within AMD Software; feedback is encouraged and can be submitted through the AMD Bug Report Tool. If issues arise or persist during the usage of the Preview Driver, please use the AMD Auto-Detect and Install Tool to revert the latest recommended AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver.

Yes, I have an AMD Radeon RX 6800. The system has been working with no issue until I upgraded the AMD RX 6800 drivers Had to Roll back to v22.6.1 to get it working again. I have made AMD aware of the issue as well. Will be most likley replacing the GPU with the new nVidia RTX 4090 when it becomes available.

Thank you. I did try to roll-back through the device manager and encountered an error message. After that the roll back option no longer appeared. Later I used an AMD cleanup utility to attempt to get the new driver going. The utility was supposed to remove any vestiges of any previous drivers.

Having trouble getting SWBF2 to open/load. Every time I get the message "Detected AMD Radeon driver version 0.0.0." and it telling me I need an updated driver. But I have the correct/updated driver installed. I have seen other having this issue, and no solutions. My computer should be able to play this game.

Thanks for the response. I usually use the most recent version of the DDU to uninstall all previous versions of drivers, but I will give this a try when I have a chance, and report back on the results. I appreciate the attempt to help.

I initially installed the drivers on the MSI CD (which was dumb - I never should have given them a chance) and the driver version according to Afterburner was 8.796. Then I realized the MSI stuff was several months old, and even the drivers on their web site were very old compared to what was on AMD's site, so I decided to start using the AMD drivers instead. I installed the full package of Catalyst 11.4 drivers.

Now, Afterburner shows the drivers as 7.14.10.0825 Catalyst 11.4. I'm not sure why it went down from showing an 8.x version to a 7.x version. My best guess is that it used to be showing MSI's version number, and now it is showing the Direct 3D version number. But that's really stupid. Also, is the version number for Direct X 11 (which I definitely have) really 7.x?

The versioning they use is incredibly stupid (and nVidia is guilty of a similar misdeed). The 'Catalyst version' is just that - the versioning for the entire Catalyst package. Then the actual drivers have their own versioning.

Generally, the newest driver is the one available on their website, yes. That said, why are you updating your drivers if you're not having problems and/or they address a specific fix you'd like to see? There's no reason to upgrade drivers otherwise, and newer drivers might introduce a bug you weren't having before.

I bought a used AMD Radeon RX470 4GB GPU (just about the only card I could find for $200), and upon installation, Windows' device manager automatically recognized it and assigned a driver dated 2020. I also have a low-end AMD graphics-adapter the vendor threw in for free still installed. Windows' device manager had already installed a working driver for that card on delivery.

Everything was working fine, but I thought I should update my drivers since they were all over a year old. Since you can no longer download specific drivers from AMD's site, I downloaded and installed AMD's Adrenaline application. Apparently this was a mistake!

I do have the RX470 working with the Adrenaline-installed driver (after a dozen "no-signal" re-boots), and its output does appear gorgeous (and Vegas runs fine with it), but I assume I'm now using the gaming driver which Adrenaline auto-detected and installed. I searched for the recommended "studio driver" for Radeon cards but couldn't find it. Could someone please post a link to the AMD studio driver for an RX470 4GB card? Thanks!

I've personally been running only the Adrenaline drivers with no issues on the RX480 8GB graphics card. Right now, I have 20.11.2 installed. The latest release is 21.41. I do game beta testing, but right now, everything is working as it should.

Hmmm . . . interesting. I've been running Vegas for two days now with the Adrenaline driver and I don't see any problems, and the rendering speeds seem fine. Color, contrast, sharpness, dynamic-range mapping, Vegas' preview window, all look superb on my 65" LED TV. The crisp visual appearance and overall picture quality has an almost a 3D-like effect! Maybe I should just keep the Adrenaline driver installed?

None of the things you describe have anything to do with the type of driver. One won't make the picture more accurate more vibrant, more crisp or anything like that. The difference is a prioritization of stability with more testing and less frequent updates over the latest fixes or performance enhancement for games. It may work today but break tomorrow (or not- if all goes well you'd never notice a difference). Magix and AMD encourage it for a reason.

Well I guess I've been reading too much Radeon advertising copy! But when my low-end card "sort of" worked mid-installation, the black-levels were off and the picture lacked contrast (i.e., it worked briefly during one of the blind-reboots, then reverted to the wallpaper-only display). It looked fine before Adrenaline changed the driver.

I did. I let Adrenaline do its thing. After 20 reboots (due to no signal-output whatsoever), Adrenaline finally "installed" and re-identified my R7 card as an R2 and gave it the current, non-functioning driver (i.e., only displays Windows' wallpaper with no icons or cursor). I did a Google-search, and the replies were to edit the registry (haven't touched the registry).

Adrenaline finally installed the RX470 with an updated 2021 driver and is functioning without issue as far as I can tell. I set Windows' graphics options, and set the acceleration option in Vegas to Ellesmere, and the 470's overall performance and output-rendering seems pretty quick.

When I first got the PC from the vendor, device manager had identified the low-end AMD card as an R7 and had already installed a fully functioning driver. It's when I installed Adrenaline when everything went haywire.

Download the latest drivers for your SAPPHIRE Radeon consumer graphics card product and operating system. Also note that most AMD drivers are universal and backwards compatible however they are operating system specific. Always make sure you choose the appropriate operating system for your computer, although the latest drivers should be compatible with most GPUs from previous generations.

For me it worked out of the box.

I'm running the Plasma 6 beta from kde-unstable and the `amdgpu` open-source kernel driver.

Kernel is 6.1.70-1-lts and GPU is the iGPU of the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G.

I also noticed that concernig my "windows-problem" fps also seem to raise when switching to the second screen (and AirbusFBW reduces to ~15%), so maybe this not all about AMD radeon software. But fps stay high while interacting in the cockpit during capturing, so I don't think the Toliss is going to any kind of "sleep mode" when the simulator screen is left.

As I said before I'm not sure that the Radeon driver alone can be blamed for that problem. Sometimes it also happens also when X-Plane is not the active window or screen. But with radeon software it can be reproduced all the time and it definetly has the most impact.

If it is related to the graphics driver, that means that it is the display drawing that slows the plugin down. What you can try is the reduce the display refresh rate in the ISCS or you can also switch off the copilot side displays (if you fly from the captain side) or vice versa.

What I found out after hours of testing different configurations and drivers: AMD driver menu and video capturing lead to an increase of graphics card frequency. Now I set the minimum frequency to around 2000 Mhz and the "FPS drop" after stop of capturing vanished. But it is still the same usage of AirbusFBW11.

It began with a notice that my driver was out of date, so I went to the AMD website and attempted to install the update. I ran the dxdiag tool to find that I have a AMD Radeon HD 6620G graphics card. I could not find my product on the list to manually install the update, so I tried the amd driver downloader tool and it had a problem recognizing my graphics card. I then tried to update it through the HP Support Assistance and that seemed to work for awhile. 17dc91bb1f
