A lot of folks find it surprising that you only need 1-2 dogs to sled or cart.
While a club member HAS trained dogs who ran in the Iditarod, the current folks are not doing that kind of work.
We tend to run the rail trails and/or horse trails in Waukesha and Jefferson counties. We go 2 to 5 miles typically, with some excursions up to 10 miles. We usually do out-and-back trails so that the less experienced or less fit teams can turn around whenever it suits.
We usually need to purchase trail passes and parking passes through the Wisconsin State Forest but otherwise there is no fee to participate.
Everyone was a novice at one point - don't be shy. Novices are welcome.
We typically go out for lunch after.
