Hi readers! I'm Taryn, the author of The Ambassador of Vine Street. I'm so glad you are visiting this site. I hope this means you have read or are planning to read my book! The idea for the book came several years ago. I used to take photos of toddler Warner walking up and down Vine Street and send them to family to admire how cute he was. One day when I sent a photo in a family group text, Warner's grandma called him "The Ambassador". We thought that was a perfect nickname and it stuck. Flash forward a couple years to June 2020, when I was in quarantine for COVID. I was feeling pretty well after a couple days, but was isolated away from everyone for several more days and trying to figure out what to do with all the free time. How about making that book idea into an actual written down story, you say? Well, that's just what I did. But then it sat there on my computer for another year as we contemplated how to get it published, and thought long about the goals and price (all the logistics) of completing the project. During this time, I asked a friend and past co-worker to illustrate for the project, which was a huge blessing. Flash forward to 2022 and my husband, Warner's daddy, encouraged me to get this book published! So, here we are today with a self-published book while meeting an exciting goal and bucket list activity: being a published author!
I'm proud of this labor of love because it's focused around a topic for which my family and I find so important: being a good neighbor. We have made it a goal to get to know our neighbors in a variety of ways and you will read about some of those in the book. It certainly takes time and effort, but it's so worth it! We feel that the house, street, neighborhood, city, state, country, and world in which you find yourself is not an accident- it's purposeful! Our neighborhoods need people like YOU!
