Amazon Watchlist is a Chrome extension that records a snapshot of price,
Best Sellers Rank, and stock status for Amazon products you choose to
track, each time you visit that product's page. This policy explains
exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data.
WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
- This extension does not operate a server, and does not transmit any data
it reads to us or to any third party.
- We do not track your general browsing history — only the specific
products you explicitly choose to add to your watchlist.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts of any kind.
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
- No account, login, or personal information is required or collected to
use this extension.
WHAT THE EXTENSION ACTUALLY DOES
When you click "Add to Watchlist" on an Amazon product page, the extension
begins recording a snapshot (price, Best Sellers Rank, stock status, and
timestamp) of that product's publicly visible listing information each
time you visit its page afterward. This only happens for products you
explicitly add — nothing is tracked automatically.
The extension does not run in the background when your browser is closed,
does not poll Amazon independently of your own browsing, and makes no
network requests beyond the Amazon page you are already viewing.
WHAT THE EXTENSION STORES, AND WHERE
Your watchlist (the products you're tracking and their snapshot history)
is stored using Chrome's built-in local storage (chrome.storage.local),
directly on your own device. It is never uploaded, synced to any server,
or accessible to anyone but you. You can remove any tracked product, or
export its history to a CSV file you control, at any time from the
extension's popup.
PERMISSIONS THIS EXTENSION USES, AND WHY
- Read and change data on Amazon websites: needed to read the price, BSR,
and stock information on product pages you choose to track. Access is
limited to Amazon's own domains — this extension cannot read or act on
any other website.
- Storage: needed to save your watchlist and its snapshot history, locally
on your device, as described above.
A NOTE ON WHAT THIS EXTENSION READS
This extension only reads information that Amazon already displays
publicly on the product page in your own browser — the same price,
ranking, and stock status you can see and read yourself. It does not
access your Amazon account, order history, payment information, or any
data that requires being logged in.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
This extension is a general-purpose research tool and is not directed at
children. It does not knowingly collect information from children, in
part because it does not collect personal information from anyone.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
will be revised. Continued use of the extension after a change means you
accept the updated policy.
