AMA Gartner Perfect Pitch Competition
Every marketing professional needs to develop a set of skills. One of the most important skill sets to have is being able to give a solid pitch that will allow them to increase their chances of reaching a deal. Although this is not a sales-specific role-play, this AMA Perfect Pitch Competition will test your communication and persuasion skills as a marketing professional. It will consist of a 90-second interview where you will have to sell yourself as being the perfect fit for a job. The goal of your pitch is to provide three selling points with concrete examples to showcase you as an ideal candidate. Your ultimate goal is to be the best and close the deal.
How The Competition Works
Competition will take place on Saturday and all participants will join the zoom call during the allotted time. Each judge will be placed in a breakout room. Moderators will place each participant in a breakout room with a judge during specified times. Each individual will have 90 seconds to present their perfect pitch without interruption. After your pitch is complet, the judges may ask you questions based on your pitch. One individual will be chosen as the winner and will receive a prize.
Perfect Pitch Judging Criteria (as per AMA guidelines)
1. 90-second time limit
2. Dress professionally
3. Use of creativity–you don’t have to do a straight pitch. Tell a story, give examples, relate to company and their culture, etc.
4. Did the pitch catch the viewers’ attention?
5. Did the pitch set you apart from the other competitors?
6. Did the pitch make the listeners interested in interviewing you?
7. Did the pitch include examples to back up the statements made? (i.e. “I’m a hard worker and
persistent.”)
8. Did the pitch include a call to action to move the hiring process forward?
