Australian artist Joe Wayne writes:
I remember when we were children we lived in an amazing world of fantasy filled with super heroes, mythical beasts and otherworldly beings, we used to journey to far away planets and see alien worlds, meet strange inhabitants and enjoy interacting with them. Being so busy with all these adventures didn't stop us fighting the baddies with "secretly developed science based" weapons :) Ah these were the days!
Fast forward to now, having grown up (?), I still am a child at heart, loving science fiction and space movies and the like, add to the mix a trend to be a technophile and an art lover, I utilise all these ingredients into paintings, sculpture and writing.
3d art offers me unprecedented ways to combine all these ingredients to visualise my fantasies and flesh them out in a more realistic and solid way, I can even 3d print them!
My new graphic novel "Amarla Dane, strands of destiny", makes use of 3d technology through blender 3d, creating characters and environments, that interact as players in this gripping sci-fi story of a victim of foul play, aliens' medical technology, DNA grafting and a twist of environmental flavour!
The 3d renders were a just the starting point, a lot of hand painting and editing were added to finish the four volumes of the novel in the comics style, that has been published as a full color 8.5 X 11.00 inches printed format, it is also available in an inexpensive Kindle book format that is available on Amazon.
