Aman Gupta is a PhD candidate in Architecture and Planning at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, India, and is nearing submission of his doctoral thesis. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from National Institute of Technology Patna, an MTech in Geospatial Engineering from IIT Roorkee, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Development from IGNOU.

He was selected as a Visiting PhD Fellow in the School of Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He has one year of professional experience in architectural practice and another year as a faculty member in the Department of Architecture and Planning at Parul University, Gujarat, before enrolling for a PhD. During his PhD, he served as a teaching assistant for courses such as Climate and Built Environment, Remote Sensing and GIS, and Architectural Design Studio.

His doctoral work is based on mitigating urban heat stress in Kolkata through the strategic use of green and blue spaces.

He is a peer reviewer for over 25 Scopus/Web of Science indexed journals, having more than 70 reviews completed.
