Hey! My name is Amanda Michelle. I'm in high school and hoping to continue my career as a writer.
I am big on recognizing the competitiveness of this field and the rarity of those that make it as big as they want to. But writing is my livelihood. It is all that I am. If I am not writing, I am an empty shell of a person. And I believe that something like that is worth making sacrifices and working extremely hard to do. So, thank you for taking the time to get to know me and see what I have to offer.
Storytelling has always captivated me. Before I even understood the concept of writing a story, I was making up a fantasy world, writing that story down and stapling it together like a book. When I got my first laptop in elementary school, I opened a Word document and began typing away at a little slice of life story (sure wish I knew how to save...) But it was in 8th grade when I first read the Harry Potter books that I fell in love with reading. And, almost automatically, a sense of urgency sparked within me to start writing a book, and that is when I began to write "Woven."
I also love writing poetry. I occassionally post my poems on Instagram or submit them to literary magazines. I find that writing poems comes extremely natural to me. Additionally, one of my biggest literary inspirations is Taylor Swift. Her semi-autobiographical way of writing and the symbols she uses in her songs to convey emotions is something that I do to put my own spin on writing. Also, my favorite author is John Green!
I want to address the genres in which I write in. Maybe at some point in my career I will stick to one genre, but for now I have many ideas for many types of genres. "Woven" is a fantasy novella while "Navy Blue" is a romance. And there's many more things to come. I know that authors usually find their rhythm, but I will continue telling the stories I have to tell.
Thank you to everyone who is coming along on this journey with me.
