Studio Policies 2019/2020

NEW Studio Policies in response to COVID-19

Expectations of students & families:

1) Students must bright their own hand towel to lessons. They will be required to wash their hands with soap (provided) for 20 seconds immediately upon entering my home and dry their hands thoroughly on their own hand towel.

2) Students cannot touch the piano until I have given them permission, as I will be cleaning the piano thoroughly between each lesson

3) The door from outside into the laundry and the door from the laundry room into my home, must remain open at all times. This way, no doorknobs are touched. Please remember to not close the doors behind you. The window in the music room will always be open too. The weather is warm and fresh air circulating is good anyway.

4) Remember to use the washroom before coming to your lesson so you don’t have to use mine, other than to wash your hands.

5) If you or anyone in your household has a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or any other symptoms, you must stay home from lessons for 2 weeks. You must be in optimal health to attend your lesson, no exceptions.

Expectations of Ms. Amanda:

1) I will thoroughly clean the washroom, laundry room and music room each day. I will be washing the piano between each lesson, with a cleaning solution that has bleach in it to kill pathogens. If students require a pencil during their lesson, each student will use a different pencil and all pencils will be washed at the end of the day.

2) I use social distancing (2 arm’s length) when around anyone. I am not letting anyone into my home other than myself and Kevin (who works from home). I do not go to any shops other than the grocery store (which I limit my trips to). I am sanitizing my phone, keys, wallet, steering wheel and doorknobs daily.

3) If I have a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or any other symptoms, I will cancel lessons immediately. Please check your phone/email prior to the lesson in case I send a message.

Cancellation Policy

Notice within 24 hours

If I am notified within 24 hours of the lesson that the student cannot attend, I cannot make-up or refund the lesson.

Notice greater than 24 hours

If I am notified with more than 24 hours’ notice, I will try my best to re-schedule the lesson for the same week it is missed (most likely at the end of my teaching day – 7:00 pm or later). If the lesson is unable to be re-scheduled for the same week it is missed, the lesson cannot be refunded or made-up.

Location

Lessons take place in my home at 2948 Oriole St. Please park your car in the driveway, not the road (don’t worry about blocking in the silver Yaris).

Other

I prefer to teach without parents sitting in on the lesson, so learning can be more organic. There is Hillside Coffee and Tea and parks nearby. Students are to use the entrance behind the black gate. They can quietly let themselves in if I am already in a lesson.

Please drop off and pick up your child on time as I have back-to-back lessons.
