The Vision & AI Lab focuses on explainable and robust deep learning, with applications in computer vision and to the physical sciences.
The lab is supported by competitive funds from NSF, DoD, and DOE/NNSA. Research outputs target top AI/ML venues, and to date 3 CS PhDs have graduated and joined academia, national labs, and the tech industry. The lab includes 5-8 undergraduate researchers annually, funded through DoD-funded collaborations as well as an REU through the UT San Antonio CONNECT Consortium for Nuclear Security Technologies. We maintain strong, grant-funded collaborations with several national labs and universities nationwide, bringing collaboration to the UT San Antonio MATRIX AI Consortium for Human Well-Being.
