Plunder Panic

Plunder Panic is a swashbuckling action arcade-game for up to 12-players where two rival crews battle for supremacy on the high seas! Featuring both local and online play, work with your crew to plunder booty, defeat the enemy captain, or scuttle their ship. The first team to capture an objective wins, so be on the lookout for other sneaky pirates!

Personal role:

Gameplay programmer using Photon Quantum software with a team of four to develop the game for multiplayer functionality. Handled the Rewired Input System to implement remapping and customized glyphs. Rigged up level designs by creating prototypes and implementing art & animations. Created Arcade features including an attraction mode to enhance the experience when deploying the game at arcade cabinet permanent displays.

Later transitioned take on game design and writing tasks as well. Designed, implemented, and wrote dialogue for the entire solo Campaign which was made up of 45 levels focused on world building, unlocking new features, and teaching item mechanics.

Village Builder

Village Builder is a real-time strategy, village construction management game for school children in Sub-Saharan Africa. The game features prosocial objectives with cognitive reasoning and planning goals.

Personal role:

Started level designing for the game from the ground up, working with artists and programmers to bring the game to its full potential. Researched African environments and the hierarchy of needs to combine the two for this project. Implemented the first 20 levels of the game, with a focus on the learning curve of game mechanics and a level play time to fit the needs of the research team in Africa. Laid out maps for future level design and began prototyping a random level generator tool.

Star Strikers

Star Strikers is a 2v2 online multiplayer arcade starfighter that takes place out in the wide expanse of space. Battle against other players as you shoot weapons, dodge obstacles, and rack up points for your team.

Personal role:

Lead Programmer managing a team of 3 developers. Individually focused on networking elements using the Photon Network Pun system, managing all aspects of online multiplayer including but not limited to creation of personalized rooms, syncing data across rounds, and instantiation of objects. Also acted as a UI designer, creating & implementing the menu navigation wireframe as well as implementing the in-game UI arrows pointing to other player locations.

Mail Snail

Mail Snail is a peaceful puzzle platformer where you play as a snail traversing a charming miniature world to deliver snail mail. You travel across lands changing between your shell and snail forms, gliding along the terrain and sticking to surfaces. Along the way you can discover collectables which are proudly displayed in your home and unlock abilities to customize your snail. There are a few environmental stumbling blocks, as well as some simple machines to help you along your journey. Your fellow snails thank you for your service, Mail Snail!

Personal role:

Producer for a team with eight developers, working remotely over a semester-long project and fostering a positive working environment. Made final decisions on game systems, focusing on the core game pillars and keeping the project in scope. Created UI animations for letter systems and menus, as well as writing all bios for the characters and most of the dialogue. Tracked daily team progress using the Scrum Burndown Chart method.
