Very much enjoying Arc so far, but I have been posed with a problem that seems to have no solution. As someone who still uses an old Chromecast 3, I often cast whole tabs to my TV, such as video players that do not natively support Chromecast.

In Chrome, this can be done by clicking the settings bar in the top right and simply pressing a button to cast the whole tab. However, I've been unable to find a solution for this in Arc, and the only way I've been able to manage this has been to open up Google Chrome.

Until recently, the chromium-browser was able to cast desktop windows to a chromecast device via the three-dot-menu and then 'Cast...'. This stopped working, but I can't tell exactly when, since I use this feature rather seldomly.

I have a WD Mycloud and I am trying to stream to my TV using Chromecast. I can connect to Mycloud from my Samsung Tab A with no problems and play movies. Using the tablet I can get Chromecast to show pictures and music from the WD Mycloud on the TV but it will not stream any movies.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should try next to view my movies?

I cast video (MP4) using the WD My Cloud for Android app. First (see the yellow highlights in the images below) I select the cast icon at the top within the app and select the Chromecast I want to cast to. After selecting the Chromecast the cast icon should change. Next I select a video file, which displays a dialog box where one has to select what to play the video in. I select Chomecast. At which point the mobile device casts the video to the Chomecast.

For some reason my Galaxy Tab A will let me choose my Chromecast device and then a Western Digital message comes up on the TV screen but when I go to the next step it goes straight to a default player so I am unable to choose Chromecast. I have been unable to find a way to change this. I have Android 6.0.1

Hey everyone. I just received word from our internal team and it looks like our casting article was updated a few days ago. From catching up on it, chromecast is not fully supported with Meta Quest, so there will be some issues that may come up while trying to cast. If you're not able to cast from your primary account to chromecast, I highly recommend submitting a bug report for our engineers to flag.

Hi since I've bought my quest 2 I've been unable to cast it to my tv or any tv infact. I can easily cast to my phone no problem but no matter what I do it won't give me an option to connect to my tv. I've made sure it's connected to the same WiFi and I've also press other device on the cast to option but even after that nothing comes up. I don't know what to do and it's been like this since I've bought it so I'm not sure if it's defected or if there's something I can do. I know for a fact my tv isn't a problem because I can cast YouTube and Netflix without a problem but it's just the oculus app that doesn't show my tv as an option to cast to even though its connect to the same WiFi.

I am experience the exact same problem. We got the Meta Quest 2 for Christmas and it won't cast to our Vizio TV (with built in Chromecast), but will to our Android phones. The headset and TV are on the same channel network, and using Chromecast from our phones for other apps (YouTube) works. Really frustrating for the kids

I have 3 Vizio models with built in Chromecast the exact same, just different sizes. My Oculus can cast to the two smaller sizes, but not the larger tv. No mesh, all on the same wifi network. All the same IP. All the same firmware on the TV's. I was able to cast to all 3 TV's with no problem until about July when my Oculus updated, I could no longer cast to the largest tv.

I have a webpage with self-updating news and weather information. Is there an example page that is able to cast it's URL to chromecast? The browser tab casting from within Chrome can stream the content to the TV just fine, but I want to be able to turn off the PC, and leave the news and weather page on my TV.

If you want to cast your webpage, you'll need to write an application that uses a custom receiver. A custom receiver can load webpages. If it's just casting your single webpage, then just have that as the receiver. If you want to use it like a browser and cast different webpages, you can do something like have your sender pass a url to your receiver (maybe use an iframe to load the webpage on the receiver). For the latter, casting a tab is probably far better though.

we have tried everything I have reset both devices, disconnected the chrome cast and reconnected, made sure the local service are turned on, rebooted my router , made sure connected to the same wifi.... and nothing is working this is frustrating.

So, I have a partial solution, and as of know, it's the only solution I know of. The only part I couldn't figure out was how to switch from casting tab to casting desktop. But, here's a nifty powershell script that you can use.

It opens chrome.. opens the cast tab... but there is no way to seclect the SOURCE as desktop from the drop down source list.. and there is no way to select a specific casting device if you have more than one.

Example: I have StreamDeck device i use when streaming video.. i can simply map one of the streamdeck buttons.. to launch this batch file.. and bam.. one button press on the device.. and i'm autocasting to my chromecast device as well.

On Chromecast the screen with the 3 dots appears but after a while it drops the connection and returns to my backdrop images. On Chromecast audio i can hear the connection sound but after a while it drops the connection too.

I bought a Chromecast 2 device (TV not audio) today and I'm experiencing the same issues as you. YouTube, Netflix etc all work well, but Spotify loads and then returns to the homescreen with images. There is another issue with Soundcloud, just FYI, but this is beyond the scope of this community.

And now my solution: if Spotify can not see chromecast shutdown all apps on your phone. Make sure that amplituner has video signal output in use. Hdmi port is not active if tv is not on thats why Spotify can't see chromecast. Now go to Spotify it will work. Now you can shut off tv it will still work. In my amplituner is enough to enter menu no need to shut on tv. Enjoy!
