I've tried installing from the dropbox acct, from dropbox.com/install, from dropbox.com/downloading . . . all of these result in the installer for "S" mode. Where can I get the installer for "NOT S mode"?

I have 2 dropboxes. 1 is a Dropbox that I access on my desktop Windows machine, and another is a Dropbox for s mode that is accessed through my iPad. I didn't ask for that one. It seemed to show up when I got a new computer 3 months ago. It is hard to move things from the new dropbox to the old one. Click and drag doesn't work. I want 1 Dropbox that I can access from either machine. How do I do that?

If that is so, I just need to know how to move the files from my desktop Dropbox to the Dropbox in s mode. Then I have to have some kind of a path so I can tell my Songbook program where the Dropbox is located so that it can link with it.

Hello all, I'm trying to sync my Dropbox folder that hosts my Emulator saves, savestates, and other emulator files in the Steam Deck's game mode, and this has proved to be unnecessarily time consuming.

With Dropbox, I can't get a systemd service to run in game mode.

I can enable a service, start it in desktop mode, switch to game mode and my files/folders do not update whatsoever.

When I go back to desktop mode the service will be disabled until I start it again.

With Rclone, I can't get the service to even stay on. It just closes shortly after running. Who even knows about game mode. I find it difficult to capture information about why this behavior is occurring.

A database server is a software permanently running and watiing for requests. An embedded HSQLDB or a split HSQLDB in file mode should be edited locally and snychronized with any cloud service after closing the entire office suite.

Neither embedded, nor server-mode databases are desingned for third party software to sync their open files.

If you are careful you may use embedded databases or sqlite on one computer at a time and sync via dropbox. But always take care to sync the file before you shutdown, close, hibernate computers. (Same as using a usb-thumb-drive to carry data around.)

I like Dropbox and have all my saves on it. Used it alot when dual booting with Windows. However, is it possible to make it so Dropbox automatically starts and syncs when starting in Gaming mode? Anyone who has Dropbox and have done it?

Or does it now default to --dropbox-batch-mode sync mode to begin with? And if not, is there a way in my config files somewhere to make it so that --dropbox-batch-mode sync mode is the default? (I never ever want to risk forgetting.)

Under a Windows OS, 'sleep' means that the computer is off and not running programs, but memory is being held live so that it can wake up very quickly. In this state, NO, dropbox can't sync, because it's not running.

With my Dropbox on Mac, I found by looking at my Recent Event page on dropbox.com that the sync only happens while I'm at the machine, although I didn't let it sleep before I left (to sync the huge batch of files). The solution above worked for me -- now it syncs while I'm away.

I use Git to synchronize my org-mode files. I have a Bash script that I leave running in the background, which automatically commits the file every minute (by default), and then pushes or pulls as needed.

Org mode does not provide any syncing functionality itself. You would have to rely on a separate application like Dropbox to sync your files. Dropbox syncs not just often, but immediately when files change, so unless you change a file and immediately shut off your computer, you will keep your files in sync.

I'm currently using btsync, but there are several open (and more cumbersome) alternatives around. It basically watches the directory and syncs it to all other running devices as soon as they get online. A dropbox without the cloud so to speak. Since it uses distributed hash tables and the torrent protocol firewalls aren't an issue either, and there are mobile clients, too. And it transfers everything encrypted.

The clients trusts the WSA but that doesn't mean that Dropbox trusts the WSA. It would depend on what trust store the dropbox application uses whether the application trusts the certificate or not. Similar to Firefox having it's own trust store that is independant of the operating systems that I.E. uses. I don't have an answer at this time as I haven't investigated the problem but this might give you some place to look.
