Morning Roots
As a Unitarian Universalist, I am rooted in a community approach to supporting each individual's unique search for meaning and journey within the interconnected web of life. I believe inspiration can be found in world religions and outside of organized religion, in the sacredness of everyday.
My current favorite way of connecting and co-creating knowledge with others is through leading Morning Roots, a monthly mindfulness group which includes time for meditation, reading, writing, tarot, and sharing. See upcoming dates.
Join us in the Emerson House (adjacent to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Dubuque) the hour before service for some time to become centered and grounded. Participants will gather at 9am and spend 25 minutes in silence, engaging in an individual mindful activity of their choice (e.g. meditating, reading, writing, drawing, tarot, etc.), followed by 25 minutes of mindful discussion. Bring your preferred activity/supplies.
In the past, I have facilitated events such as afternoon summer camp for adults, an arts & crafts event, and dialogues on race and ethnicity.
Dubuque Rescue Mission
Life update: I got a job at the Dubuque Rescue Mission! I am grateful for my time at Shake Rag Alley and the wonderful people I met, and will bring that joy and creativity with me as I step into my next chapter.
The Dubuque Rescue Mission provides food, shelter, clothing, and other services to people in need. They have several housing locations, serve about 200 meals each day, grow organic produce in their urban garden, operate two thrift stores as a fundraiser and as a way to distribute items to people in need through a free voucher system, and just opened a repair shop & recycle center.
I'll be a program assistant, helping support all the different branches of what they do! I'm looking forward to becoming part of the Mission community!
