Research Associate at the University of Mannheim
I am a research associate at the University of Mannheim and recently defended my PhD at the Swiss Graduate School for Public Administration at the University of Lausanne.
My research focuses on questions at the intersection of immigration, citizenship, integration, allocation of rights to noncitizen residents, and public opinion. I am also interested in how various members of society define and erect boundaries around "belongingness" and inclusion. My dissertation tackles how citizens view and consider the trade-off between extending voting rights to noncitizen residents in exchange for proof of more actionable integration. Methodologically, I have primarily employed surveys and survey experiments to answer my most recent research; I have also used observational data and have designs to use computation text analysis and interviews in ongoing work.
I hold an MA in Political Science from the University of Mannheim (2015), a BA in Political Science from the Ohio State University (2013), and a BA in the German Language and Culture from the Ohio State University (2013).
Prior to starting my PhD, I was the Managing Editor of the American Political Science Review (2016-2020) with the first European-based editorial team (Uni Mannheim, Uni Köln and LSE).

I am not just my research. I love skiing, hiking, staying fit, and yoga. I receive great joy from working with my hands, either through arts and crafts, building and upcycling furniture or baking. I have considered starting the sommelier certification process, but would probably just drink the wine. I am an avid reader of many genres, especially the classics, fantasy, sci-fi, comedians' autobiographies and nonfiction; and in my free time, am writing a fantasy novel.

He is 8.5 years old. He is an absolute curmudgeon, who loves balls and surgically removing the squeakers from toys before turning my living room into a scene from Saw. He loves people, especially his people. He often sleeps with his head on a pillow.
He is my favorite bean.
