Hi, I'm Alyssa!
About Me
Me! I'm that girl. And I'm not making it up to sell books. I really am named after a tree farm, and I really do LOVE books and stories of all kinds. My family and I have what we like to call "reading parties" every night. While other families wind down from their busy days watching reality TV or scrolling social media, our little trio gathers together on my king-size bed and reads.
It took me far too long to understand that my love for reading also translated to writing. I've always been a story-teller. First as a dancer, and later as a theatre artist. But, it wasn't until I wrote my first play that I discovered the joy of creating a story from scratch. One slippery slope later, I caught the writing bug and never looked back.
I write primarily contemporary romantic comedies, children’s books, short stories, and poetry. While my work spans genres, I try to weave a thread of hope through everything I create. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in creative writing at Lindenwood University, where I continue to craft stories with the hope of making readers laugh, swoon, and believe in happily-ever-afters.
My own love story has a bit of rom-com flair. I met my husband, Sam, while performing in a production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. We are what some might call a "show-mance." As scene partners in the show, we had to get married on stage every night for two months. (Talk about rehearsing for the real thing!)
When I'm not writing or reading, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, gardening, camping, dancing, and taking a summer trip to the beach. I also have a slight obsession with Indian food.
