This exploratory project examines how Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching (IHWC) can be adapted to identify and address the unique health and wellness needs of adults with IDD. Through qualitative and mixed-methods inquiry, the study investigates how communication, engagement, and supported decision-making influence participants’ ability to set goals, manage stress, and sustain healthy behaviors. Additionally, we use the IHWC process to further understand what health and wellness looks like for this population - what are the common health goals, and how can integrative health promotion interventions address these needs?
This parallel project examines the feasibility and impact of IHWC for care partners including direct support professionals and family caregivers of adults with IDD. Through a community-based, mixed-methods design, the study explores how coaching can enhance stress management, resilience, and health behavior change within the caregiving workforce, supporting well-being for both caregivers and the individuals they serve.
