This range of ages were based off of research into Children's Artistic Development by Viktor Lowenfeld and Rhoda Kellogg. There are five developmental stages for Children:
The Scribbling Stage: ages 2-4
The Pre-Schematic Stage: ages 4-7
The Dawning Realism Stage: ages 9-11
The Pseudo-Naturalistic Stage: ages 11-13

A lot of the submissions currently feature middle school ages 10-13. This can be due to it being easier to find compared to younger ages. It maybe contributed to the fact that this is when artists start "taking art more seriously" and so the artist at that age were more likely to keep and preserve art from these ages more likely than younger ages.
While artists are never done growing and learning at any age, artists over 18 have matured artistically and have a better sense of who they are as well as what their artwork is. There's also a more dramatic jump in growth comparatively from ages 13 and younger to 18 and older, which makes it more exciting to compare the submitted artwork vs their current work.
This also kept the archive collection contained for the finals project as well as more manageable for the solo archivist! I know you all kept your high school artwork and I know it's probably really really good too!
You can submit up to three pieces of artwork here: https://forms.gle/2ahQaWCvF3WKjgxi6
The google form is periodically close and open depending on if the solo archivist can get to it or not! The artwork will be uploaded on a not regular basis as the solo archivist is a busy lady!! Maybe if the project gets a lot of love and support, a SECOND or maybe THIRD archivist could come on board!
The oldest piece of art is from 2006 (Find it here!) and the most recent piece of art is from 2017 (Find it here)!
