About
Parole Teetee is a delightful children's book that's also suitable for grown-ups. The mysterious disappearance of an elderly woman, the impromptu meeting of a detective club, and the resulting friendship between the seven main characters are the highlights of this novel. It also tackles issues that aren't commonly addressed in children's books, such as stereotypes against immigrants in Germany, the Syrian war, and teen pregnancy. Oh, and did I mention that Frau Teetee, the lady who's ‘supposedly’ missing, possesses a magic bag?

About
Frankie is a novel from the point of view of a male cat who can speak ‘human’. Although packed with humor, the book is shrouded by the tragedy that befell the human protagonist—Richard Gold—throughout the story. It's written in a relatively straightforward manner and deals with difficult topics such as grief, death, and depression (which turns out to be very different when seen through the eyes of a cat). As a cat-loving human, working through this novel has made me wonder: if only my cats could speak human, would they behave the same way as Frankie?
