hi all. so i just got off the plane from ny -> la and even after restarting mac & reinstalling latest windscribe the 'best location' is still grand central server even though im in la so its making my internet slow. any fixes? thanks
Of late I noticed that when connected to windscribe VPN many sites are blocking access for example reddit, a simple google search is just triggering too many captchas to the point the user experience is now not a good one. Are VPN providers ever going to win this battle to safeguard their IPs against these ravening wolves (aka google etc)?
Installed AUR package windscribe-cli (vpn). It did not work. Uninstalled it. I now do not have a working internet connection via Ethernet. Computer is used for my programming hobbies, but with corona - it is now my kids school computer. Any help is appreciated.
tl;dr -- if you use Windscribe, update to v1.70 prior to installing 10.13. If you used to use Windscribe, and lose all network connectivity after your High Sierra installation, delete the com.aaa.windscribe.* files in /Library/LaunchDaemons.
Long story short, the issue was Windscribe v1.61 Build 9 -- I had tested WindScribe (VPN provider) at one point, but it wasn't active. The leftover /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.aaa.windscribe.firewall_on.plist file was the specific culprit (the Windscribe firewall is intended to disable internet connectivity when not connected to their network, but wasn't in use on that laptop prior to High Sierra installation -- not sure why the plist file had been left behind).
It's working on my browser but it doesn't work on my Kubuntu 18.04 I installed all the keys and stuff they recommended then installed the windscribe-cli and signed in, when I try to connect it says firewall enabled and under it there's a spinning thingy that doesnt stop like it can't connect. Can you help me fix the issue?
I use Windscribe on Ububtu 18.04 and I have noticed that once you are logged in you remain logged in and also once enabled the firewall stays enabled ( the windscribe firewall blocks all internet access when not connected to a windscribe server), even after a restart.I would recommend disabling the firewall with the commend "windscribe firewall off" then try to reconnect then after connection turn the firewall back on.Alternately try a different location from the locations list but remember to use the pseudonym for example "windscribe connect castle" is Frankfurt Germany.
