VFR navigation aid for helicopters & light aircraft.
Altus (the “app”) is a VFR navigation aid for helicopters and other low-altitude aircraft. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. The app does not collect, store, or sell information that identifies you, and it contains no advertising and no analytics.
The app uses your current location (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, heading) for on-device navigation — route guidance, emergency/reporting range rings, landing-site distances, and similar calculations.
Flight records (tracks): when you end a flight, that flight’s path and a summary (times, duration, distance, maximum altitude) are saved on your device. This is location history, so it is described separately in section 3.
Location data is not transmitted to or stored by the app developer. There are no developer servers.
A foreground service keeps location tracking active while the screen is off or the app is in the background during flight. An ongoing notification makes this visible to you.
Only when you use the features below, the minimum value needed to fulfill the request (your current location, or the map area visible on screen) is sent directly to the relevant public data service. It does not pass through any developer server.
Weather — public meteorological services (Korea Meteorological Administration short-term forecast, ASOS surface observations, METAR).
Precipitation radar and satellite cloud imagery — public tile services.
Highway / road CCTV — the national traffic information (ITS) OpenAPI and its streaming servers.
Satellite map tiles — VWorld (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), or a map source you configure yourself.
The handling of information by these external services is governed by each service’s own policy.
Any API keys you enter (weather, CCTV, satellite) are kept only in local storage on your device and are not transmitted elsewhere.
Flight plans, routes, settings, and backup data are stored only in a local database on your device.
Flight records (tracks / location history): saved automatically when a flight ends and never leave your device. There is no automatic expiry — they are kept until you delete them (Menu → “Past flights”, delete per record). Uninstalling the app removes them. Tracks are not included in backup files.
GPX export (your choice): exporting a past flight writes that track as a GPX file into your device’s Downloads folder. That folder is readable by other apps, and sharing the file may send your location history onward, so handle it accordingly. The app never transmits it automatically.
Location (precise / approximate) — core navigation.
Notifications — to display the in-flight foreground location service (Android 13+).
Battery-optimization exemption request — to keep the location service alive during long flights. You grant this yourself in the system dialog; the app does not change it on its own.
Network access — for the optional features in section 2.
The app does not sell your information or share it for marketing purposes.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
