Althea and the Mysteries of Infinity
Althea and the Mysteries of Infinity
This is the third book in the series of Althea's Math Mysteries. Althea and her friends explore the many ways infinity can show up when we're playing with math. Now her brother Rudy and his friend Sami join them. Once again Mom contributes some strange stories.
I have just started writing this book, so I'm not yet sure what Althea and friends will be up to.
Althea and friends have already explored Archimedes' 'method of exhaustion' as they worked on finding the value of pi. In book 3, they'll explore the area of a circle with a method that goes back to Archimedes. They will also look at topics often covered in calculus. Adding infinitely many numbers for a finite sum, getting two points infinitely close, etc They will also look at the different sizes of infinity.

I like how going to sleep on a problem can help you solve it. This guy figured out benzene's chemical structure after dreaming of snakes eating their own tails.
