My name is Althea Benjamin, I am curently a student at Church Teachers' College pursuing a B.Ed in Computer Science. I enjoy listening to music watching movies and reading. I realize the need to become an educator during my time working with a group of students in a reading class at my former primary school. It was there that I realized the profound impact I could have on the lives of children. These students were struggling readers, who lacked motivation and the extra support at home. Frustration on their faces as they stumble over the words they tried to read in a passage. But each day as I patiently worked with them, I could see their confidence grow. The moment they were able to read a whole paragraph on their own without any mistakes; their smiles filled my heart. In that instance, I knew that I wanted to be an educator dedicated to helping students discover the joy of learning. In today’s digital age, this can be made possible with the wide array of educational tools and platforms available that allow students regardless of their learning style to be engaged in different learning activities that fosters growth and development.
