What is alternative treatment?
Alternative medicine is a term that describes medical treatments that are used instead of traditional treatments and therapies. Sometimes alternative medicine is referred to as integrative or complementary medicine. Thousands of people around the world including half of the adults in the US use some form of alternative medicine.
Alternative medicine can be any practice that aims to heal, manage or improve a physical or mental health condition. People use alternative treatments to help treat or manage a health condition. It can be used alongside a traditional treatment but usually most people use alternative treatment on it`s own for reasons that could include they are not happy with traditional treatment or it didn`t work, they can`t afford traditional treatment or they want a safer and easier treatment option.
There are sometimes other reasons to like a person being allergic to an ingredient in a certain medication or injection and nothing else being available and some people choose alternative treatments because it is just what they prefer. Alternative treatments are available for many different health conditions including less serious conditions like arthritis, stress, fatigue, body aches and pains to more serious conditions like hypertension, heart disease, cancer and many more.
There are also alternative treatments available for mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, bipolar, OCD, Autism and more. There are also less common treatments available that many people don`t know about and may find strange or unusual and includes things like seaweed bath, snail syrup and tickle therapy.
