This will be the first phase focused on speculative paleontology. It is assumed that virtually everything that we know from our Earth's distant eras will remain the same, but the community will be able to imagine and create creatures that could feasibly have existed in our Earth's past, but we just haven't found them in the fossil record. This will be divided in a series of subphases, the following are the ones planned:
- Precambrian (4567.3 - 538.8 mya)
- Cambrian (538.8 - 485.4 mya)
- Ordovician (485.4 - 443.1 mya)
- Silurian (443.1 - 419.2 mya)
- Devonian (419.2 - 358.9 mya)
- Carboniferous (358.9 - 298.9 mya)
- Permian (298.9 - 251.9 mya)
- Triassic (251.9 - 201.4 mya)
- Jurassic (201.4 - 145 mya)
- Cretaceous (145 - 66 mya)
- Paleocene (66 - 56 mya)
- Eocene (56 - 33.9 mya)
- Oligocene (33.9 - 23 mya)
- Miocene (23 - 5.3 mya)
- Early Zanclean (5.3 - ~4.5 mya)
This phase follows an abrupt end from the first phase, where now we see the timeline suddenly splitting off from ours, during the early Pliocene, somewhere between 4.9 and 4 million years ago. The reasons for this timeline split are not yet fully realized by this stage of the project, but the idea is that this would be a moment in time where life can butterfly into a different path, up until the present, and people will be able to create creatures for this alternate timeline. The subphases it is planned to have are:
- Late Zanclean (~4.5 - 3.6 mya)
- Piacenzian (3.6 - 2.5 mya)
- Gelasian (2.5 - 1.8 mya)
- Calabrian (1.8 - 0.7 mya)
- Chibanian (0.7 - 0.1 mya)
- Late Pleistocene (0.1 - 0 mya)
- Holocene (0 mya)
Once we reach the time that is equivalent to the present, then people will be able to create creatures that follow this new strange future. This will accompany more unprecedented and unexpected climatic changes and extinction events, and not a lot is planned, at this stage. The subphases planned are as follows (titles are placeholders):
- Future Subphase 1 (0 - 4 myh)
- Future Subphase 2 (4 - 15 myh)
- Future Subphase 3 (15 - 31 myh)
- Future Subphase 4 (31 - 41 myh)
- Future Subphase 5 (41 - 54 myh)Â
- Future Subphase 6 (54 - 80 myh)
- Future Subphase 7 (80 - 122 myh)
- Future Subphase 8 (122 - 165 myh)
- Future Subphase 9 (165 - 260 myh)
- Future Subphase 10 (260 - 279 myh)
- Future Subphase 11 (279 - 341 myh)
- Future Subphase 12 (341 - 376 myh)
- Future Subphase 13 (376 - 406 myh)
- Future Subphase 14 (406 - 455 myh)
- Future Subphase 15 (455 - 548 myh)
