Imagine for a moment, that you and a group of strangers found yourselves stranded in a vast forest far up north. Unable to call for help, thousands of kilometers from civilization, and unable to get home, you rely on one another's skills and talents to get through a fast coming winter.
Imagine adapting to new situations, discovering new ways to survive, and through a mixture of teamwork, knowledge, and a little bravery, you make it through together. You create a strong sense of community to your fellow survivors and slowly learn to look out for one another. Maybe even become friends.
Imagine yourself travelling through grizzly bear infested woods trying to gather food for the coming winter. Imagine the fear creeping in as the weather gets colder, the first signs of frost cover the ground, the surrounding predators get hungrier and more brazen, food becomes more scarce, and your friends start to go missing from hunting and gathering parties.
Now take that image and twist it a little.
I want you to imagine being trapped in an alternate world. One that is different from ours. Where actual monsters stalk the forests, mischievous beings cheat you for your memories, and the very air you breathe changes your body in strange and sometimes horrifying ways.
I want you to imagine adapting to these circumstances anyway. I want you to think of the people you'd meet, the stories you'd share, the person you'd become, the things you'd discover, and the monsters you'd come to fear.
This is Altered.
We seek to build a Community Focused Survival Horror experience with a combination of elements from science fiction, fantasy, and modern day influences, in order to tell a collective - ever expanding - story that is fun, engaging, and completely unique from other game worlds.
WHO WE ARE
We are a collective of experienced LARPers, gamers, nerds, and game designers who have come together to create an Occult Survival Horror LARP called Altered. We have drawn inspiration from movies such as Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, and Coraline - books such as Alice in Wonderland, The Dark Tower series, and Neverwhere -and dozens of other sources, in order to create a truly unique game and setting focused around exploring the themes of Community, Discovery, Fear, and Adaptation in a Fantastical Survival Horror setting.

For first time LARPers, welcome to the community. You're in for an amazing and wild ride!
If you're brand new to LARPing as a hobby, I would first look at a list of camping essentials. 80% of LARP in Canada is good camping practices and camping gear. Please see What You'll Need for some specifics.
Next I'd start looking at Altered's rule-book, which will give you everything you need to get familiar with character creation, learn a little more about our themes, and create a character! There will be some key differences between the Alpha Season and regular play, if you're interested in the nitty-gritty, the Event Details page should be checked out.
