If you want a durable, feature-rich pair of headphones for long work sessions or school use that actively blocks out distractions, choose Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise; if you need a soft, washable headband that lets you sleep on your side or exercise without pressure points, choose Perytong Sleep Headphones. These two devices serve fundamentally different purposes, and while they both deliver audio wirelessly, their designs target opposite ends of the daily routine spectrum. One is built for focused listening in an active environment, while the other is engineered to disappear into the background during rest or physical activity.
• Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise: Its greatest strength is the combination of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and a strict 85dB volume limit designed for younger ears, but it uses a rigid plastic construction that lacks the flexibility of fabric gear.
• Perytong Sleep Headphones: Its biggest advantage is the ultra-flat speakers and breathable, machine-washable headband design perfect for side sleepers, yet it relies entirely on passive noise isolation with no active cancellation technology.
• Best For: Choose Altec Lansing for kids needing safe, distraction-free listening for education or travel; choose Perytong for adults or anyone needing to block light and sound while lying down or sweating during workouts.
The Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise headphones are clearly engineered with a specific demographic in mind: children aged 7 and up who need to focus. The defining feature here is the Advanced Active Noise Cancellation. This isn't just about turning down the volume; it is about creating a serene audio environment even when chaos is happening around them. Whether your child is trying to study in a busy household, watch a movie on a flight, or listen to educational content at a noisy airport, these headphones actively fight external noise. This makes them an excellent tool for maintaining concentration during work-from-home environments where siblings might be playing nearby or for any scenario requiring deep focus.

Safety is another non-negotiable pillar of this product. The volume limiting technology caps output at 85 dB, a level proven to protect developing hearing over long periods. You do not have to constantly monitor the volume knob because the hardware itself enforces this safety ceiling. Combined with the 15-hour battery charge capability, which delivers an average of 10 hours of continuous playback, these headphones can easily last through a full day of school, travel, or playtime. The design features an "on-ear" fit with over-ear earpiece shapes, wrapped in a modern, sporty aesthetic that feels sturdy enough to survive being tossed in a backpack.
However, this device is not for everyone. If you are looking for something to wear while lying flat on your stomach or rolling over onto your side, these will likely cause discomfort due to their hard plastic enclosure and rigid structure. They are also heavier at 0.31 kg compared to fabric alternatives, which might feel cumbersome during extended periods of motion. Furthermore, while they offer Bluetooth 5 connectivity, they also include a 3.5 mm jack for wired connections, ensuring you can use them without battery power, but they lack the sweat-proof capabilities needed for intense athletic training. This is a headphone for sitting, standing, and moving around, not for resting.
The Perytong Sleep Headphones are a completely different beast, designed specifically for the person who wants to drift off to music without anything digging into their ears. The core innovation here is the 2-in-1 functionality that serves as both a sleep mask and a wireless headset. The flat speaker design is critical; it eliminates the pressure points that traditional earbuds or bulky headphones create when you press your face against a pillow. This allows side sleepers to roll over freely without waking up with pain or dislodging the audio source. The material is a blend of nylon, polyester, and spandex, making it incredibly soft and breathable against the skin.
Durability and hygiene are handled uniquely by this product. Because it is a headband, it is fully machine-washable once you remove the small controller unit. This is a game-changer for athletes or parents who worry about sweat and bacteria buildup. The sweat-proof and water-resistant design ensures that even after a hot yoga session or a summer run, the electronics remain protected while the fabric stays fresh. With Bluetooth 5.4 technology, pairing is instant and stable, offering rich sound from 40mm composite drivers that make white noise or meditation guides feel immersive. The battery life is impressive, offering 14 hours of playtime and fast charging via USB-C, meaning you can charge it in about two hours and still have plenty of power left for the next day.
That said, this product has significant trade-offs for those who need to work in noisy offices. It lacks Active Noise Cancellation, relying instead on passive noise control. While the fabric covers the ears, it cannot electronically cancel out a barking dog or a loud construction site like the Altec Lansing model can. Additionally, there is no headphone jack; these are strictly wireless. If your phone dies, the audio stops immediately. They are also designed for adults and older teens rather than young children, lacking the specific volume limiting hardware found in the Altec Lansing set. This is a specialized tool for sleep, relaxation, and light sports, not for high-fidelity listening in a chaotic environment.

I would buy the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise if my primary goal was finding the best open ear headphones for work or study environments where silence is essential. The ability to actively cancel noise and the built-in safety features make it the superior choice for anyone who needs to get things done in a distracting world. However, if I were looking for the best usb c charging in ear earbuds for work that could double as a sleep aid, I might lean toward the Perytong, though its lack of ANC limits its utility in loud settings. Ultimately, for a serious work-from-home setup or a child needing to focus, the Altec Lansing wins on performance and safety. For anyone struggling with insomnia or side-sleeping discomfort, the Perytong is the only logical choice. In my opinion, the Altec Lansing offers more versatility for general daily use, while the Perytong is a niche solution for rest and recovery.
Only the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise is suitable for this, as it features Active Noise Cancellation to electronically reduce background chatter, whereas the Perytong relies only on passive fabric isolation.
Yes, the Perytong Sleep Headphones are designed to be machine-washable, provided you first remove the removable controller unit before tossing the headband in.
While the Perytong is comfortable for sleeping, the Altec Lansing is safer for hearing health due to its 85dB limit, though its rigid design may be uncomfortable for a child who tosses and turns at night.
