The said trustees may, in their sole discretion, allow a deviation from the requirements of section 4, above, where the proposed architectural style and building materials are of sufficient quality and design to be consistent with the quality and design of the architectural style and building materials of the buildings within the neighborhood of the subject lot "
A: No. Trustee approval and permits are not needed for a driveway replacement. However, the sidewalk and driveway apron are city property and require a permit from the University City Public Works & Parks Department. All public sidewalk and driveway aprons are required to be finished in exposed aggregate to match according the the Public Works Department.

A: All of the street lights in the neighborhood are owned by Ameren and each has a tag near the top of the pole with an identification number on it. Report any non-working street lights directly to Ameren and be sure to provide the pole number.

A: No. All trees in the tree lawn are city owned trees and may not be trimmed or cut down. If you need a city owned tree trimmed, call the Public Works and Parks Department at 314-505-8572. If branches from city owned trees fall during a storm, please contact the Public works and Parks Department and the city will pick them up.
A: No. Interior renovations that do not alter the exterior of the house do not require trustee approval. Building and construction permits may be required from University City.
A: The streets in Alta-Dena are public and belong to University City and permits are required from University City before any POD or dumpster may be placed on the street.
A: Leaves may be raked to the curb twice a year. University City makes one leaf pickup in the spring (usually March) and two leaf pickups in the fall (November). The leaf pickup schedule can be found here. Leaves may not be raked to the street outside of the designated pickup times and the city may issues citations for piles of leaves left in the street after the last pickup. Leaves and other yard waste may be placed in yard waste bags at the curb on trash day year round. Yard waste bags require stickers costing $1.50 each to be affixed to the bags from January-September.
