Set out to discover Alsatian culture and heritage through the culinary arts! Discover common dishes served in Alsatian cooking by researching about the food you are asked to prepare, finding and trying out recipes for the food, and presenting the food as it would be served during an Alsatian meal. To help us preserve the over 180 years of Alsatian culture in Texas, join us with your prepared dish at the Alsatian Festival of Texas on April 26 at 4:00 P.M. at the Koenig Park in Castroville!

Some additional things to consider that may impact your dish:
Make sure your recipe has enough detail for someone else to make your recipe. Compare different recipes you find to see what is different or unique about each one.
Present and arrange your dish in a way that an Alsatian cook would. Make it look appealing to look at and eat. Consider arranging the food so that it looks more presentable.
Provide some Alsatian-relevant, complimentary sides with your dish (bretzels served with an Alsatian-relevant dipping sauce; fruit tart served with an Alsatian-relevant dessert item; baeckoffe served with an Alsatian-relevant bread item)
The main focus of this contest is to do research about the Alsatian foods, not to spend lots of money making the food or buying cooking platters. Many of these recipes that you come across may suggest to use serving or cooking platters made in Alsace. The non-consumable components of your presentation/preparation will not be judged; use what you already have available, but be aware that certain serving/cooking platters may make it easier/harder to cook and present the dishes.
