Ezzeldin Hany Gamal Foda ("we", "our", or "the developer") provides the AlSajid (الساجد) mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
We take a privacy-first approach: we do not collect, store, or share your personal data on any remote servers. AlSajid is designed to operate primarily offline, ensuring your data stays where it belongs—on your device.
A. Location Data
Purpose: To calculate accurate prayer times, Qibla direction, and local Hijri calendar adjustments based on your geographical coordinates.
Usage: The app requests access to your Precise (GPS) and Approximate (Network) Location.
Background Access: To ensure Athan reminders remain accurate as you travel, the app may access your location in the background. This data is used solely for recalculating prayer times locally and is never transmitted to our servers or used for user tracking.
Third-Party Processing: Coordinates and basic network requests (such as IP addresses) may be routed securely to Huawei Location Kit, OpenStreetMap (Nominatim), or Esri (ArcGIS) solely to resolve your city name or render geographical map tiles. We do not share this data with advertisers.
B. Device Sensors (Magnetometer & Accelerometer)
Purpose: The app accesses your device's internal compass and motion sensors to provide the Qibla Compass feature.
Usage: Sensor data is processed in real-time to determine direction. This data is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
C. Notifications & Exact Alarms
Permissions: POST_NOTIFICATIONS, SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, and USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT.
Purpose: To deliver timely Athan reminders and visual alerts. Exact alarms are required by Android to ensure the Athan sounds precisely at the calculated prayer time, even when the device is in power-saving mode.
D. Do Not Disturb (DND) Access
Permission: ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY.
Purpose: Used strictly for the "Auto-Silent" feature. This allows the app to automatically mute your device during prayer times and restore your previous volume settings afterward.
E. Overlay & Foreground Services
Permissions: SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW and FOREGROUND_SERVICE.
Purpose: These allow the Athan audio to play and the prayer alert screen to appear even if your phone is locked or you are using another application.
F. Battery Optimization
Permission: REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS.
Purpose: We may request this to prevent the Android system from hibernating the app's background tasks, ensuring your Athan reminders are never delayed or missed.
G. Home Screen Widgets
Purpose: To provide quick access to prayer countdowns, Hijri dates, and daily Athkar directly from your device's home screen.
Data Handling: Widgets only read the non-identifiable prayer data already stored locally by the app. They update in the background using standard Android widget protocols but do not collect, transmit, or share any additional information.
Performance Analytics (Baseline Profiles) This app includes Baseline Profiles to ensure fast startup times and smooth scrolling. This is a static performance mapping generated during development; it does not track user behavior or device telemetry
We use reputable third-party providers for core mapping and location features:
Huawei Mobile Services (HMS): For location accuracy on supported Huawei devices. (Subject to the Huawei Privacy Policy).
Google Play Services: For location accuracy and background location processing on supported Android devices. (Subject to the Google Privacy Policy), and you can learn more about Play Services data here).
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): For manual city searches and reverse geocoding. (Subject to the OSM Foundation Privacy Policy).
Esri (ArcGIS): For displaying the Qibla map imagery. (Subject to the Esri Privacy Policy).
Local Storage: All preferences (calculation methods, Dhikr counts, and audio selections) are stored using an encrypted Room Database and DataStore locally on your device.
Deletion: Because we do not use accounts, we do not store data on servers. To permanently delete all your data, simply uninstall the app or select "Clear Data" in your device's Android Settings.
AlSajid does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information.
Children's Privacy: We are fully compliant with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and GDPR-K, as no data is transmitted from the device.
Global Standards: Our zero-collection architecture naturally adheres to the principles of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act).
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect new Android platform requirements. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted within the app or on our store listing.
