The world's first UNESCO trail was launched in Scotland on Friday, 15 October 2021. The UNESCO trail can be interpreted as a trail or route for tourist objects, heritage and historical, cultural, scientific, artistic and natural beauty in a country.
The UNESCO Scotland Trail connects 13 UNESCO-certified sites, including world heritage sites, the Biosphere, Global Geopark and Creative City. The inauguration of the UNESCO Trail aims to provide the best experience for visitors traveling in Scotland. The paths created are integrated so that visitors can explore Scotland across a journey of culture, history, science, music, design, art, literature, to natural beauty and city layouts.
The creation and planning of the UNESCO Trail Scotland is supported by many partnerships such as VisitScotland, Scottish Government, UK National Commission for UNESCO, Historic Environment Scotland, NatureScot, National Trust for Scotland and 13 UNESCO Nominations in Scotland. This program is supported by government funds amounting to £ 360,000 to channel the idea of developing sustainable tourism in Scotland.
